    Default My prospects...

In my sig are my 15. I'm looking for some feedback as far as ranking these guys, upside/downside and who you would cut ties with. I'm hinking of adding a goalie(s) and possibly more D. I don't want to throw names out for possible replacements b/c too many gms in my league frequent the site.

If you want to throw out some names that you feel may be under the radar, but who would be improvements over the guys you would cut ties with, that's fine. I'm repping insightful replies. Thanks in advance.

LOL @ the "who" with the last 3. Thanks, dm. I'll rep, but have to first spread some around.

The first 6 here are propably going to be kept for sure. Kabanov's upside is tantalising and he seems to be maturing (at least that's what I've got from following him for the last little while).

Grimaldi and Weal have nice upsides if they can surpass their lack of height, worth the gamble.

Most of the other guys I don't value too highly (G-L, Theissen, Boucher, Catenacci) or know not much about (the same 3 Mac pointed up there. I am familiar with the name Conacher, btu the other 3 have got me at a loss).

As for names... I'm too out of the prospect loop this year to figure any under the radar ones (damn you university, damn you). This must be quite a deep league though.

Your top-5 is clearly ahead of the rest of the guys IMO:

    Hamilton
    Morrow
    Morin
    Beaulieu
    Khokhlachev

    Those are must keeps.

As for the rest, not too high on any them, but here's my ranking:

Nieto - having a nice year in college, one of Sharks top prospects
Gauthier-Leduc - too far away from making the NHL, atleast with the Sabres
Conacher - too small but having succesful year in AHL; could turn out to be decent player
Thiessen - limited upside but pretty close to making the big show
Kabanov - headcase, KHL flight risk
Weal - too small, not sure he can make succesful transition from junior star to NHL
Lucia - too far away from NHL, buried behind lots of quality prospects in Minnesota
Boucher - don't know much about him but another midget
Grimaldi - too small, religious nutcase
Catenacci - too far away from NHL

I wouldn't have any problems replacing any of those guys, depending on who's available. Some guys you might wanna look at if they're available: Riley Sheahan, Brett Bulmer, Matt Fraser, Martin Gernat...

Thanks for the reply, Nights. Yes, it is a very deep league, filled with knowledgeable GMs. 20 teams, 25 man rosters and 15 prospects, expanding to 20 prospects next year.

I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule - TDU ( The Damn University ) to help me. Rep to ya!

I have a hunch that Conacher will get some hype on this site in March (when I believe TB will sign him) - he is the leading rookie scorer in the AHL after all.

Not sure how Nieto becomes a 'who?' on here.

He was the 2nd round pick of the SJS in 2011 (47th overall). He's leading Boston University in scoring and has shown a great upward trajectory that I always love in a player. He has just tied his point total from last season in almost half as many games so he's on pace to shatter his previous career highs.

It should be noted that Charlie Coyle, a somewhat highly touted prospect around these parts, played for this same team until he moved on to the Sea Dogs and wasn't keeping up with Nieto's scoring pace even though he is a year older.

Nieto is one of the lone bright spots in a barren SJS's prospect cupboard.

Oh yeah, in his final year with the USNDT he was the leading scorer over a few guys like Saad and Grimaldi.

This kid has speed to burn and an offensive skill set to cash in on it.

No idea how he'll pan out but I'm taking my chances on him over many other forwards on this list......very underrated player!

Morrow and Hamilton are my favorite players on your list and Morin comes in a close third. Fringe Russian players have taken a nose-dive in my estimation because I don't have the time or patience to figure out where their loyalties lie. That being said you do have a couple of tempting options here.

I could see that happening. I also remember some games he played in, earlier in the year, and he had no trouble whatsoever. He actually reminds me of Marchand. He plays bigger than his size and has been a scorer at every level. I also like TB's winger situation. Thanks for the reply. I ran out of rep, but i'll get you.
