Default Is burns a stay at home defence?

How can burns have under ten points this far into a season? Is he on the pp? We were all expecting 45+ points he on pace for 20? Don't get to watch shark games just wondering his new role on the team?

Playing the shutdown role and not getting top PP duty. Thats the problem when you are a better PK guy than the other d-men on the team. Subban was getting that treatment until recently. Carlson was as well. Thats the question you need to ask about some guys, are they going to be stuck as #1PK by default.

He's averagng the 2nd most PP time/game amongst San Jose defencemen, and 2nd most in shots. I haven't watched a lot of Sharks games, but I can't see them not using Burns in an offensive role. He's a very gifted stickhandler, and one of the most prolific goalscorers amongst NHL defencemen IMO.

My initial thought is that it may take some time for him to get acclimated to the new environment. But, something more must be wrong in San Jose. Dan Boyle has only 12 points.
    10-team Keeper. Everyone keeps 12 + 1 G + 3 "young keepers" (players with less than 164 NHL games played), and 1G. Points for G (2), A (2), PIM (.2), Hit (.2), Blk (.2) SHP(1), W(4), SO(8) Must dress 4C, 4LW, 4RW, 6D, 2G

LW - E. Kane, Drouin, Schenn, Miller, Foligno, Zucker
RW - Wheeler, Stone, Lindholm, Oshie, Tolvanen
D - Karlsson, Carlson, Dumba, Nurse, Ceci, Pionk, Larsson, Montour
G - Murray, Quick, Koskinen, Blackwood, Georgiev

    Some misinformation in this thread....

Burns is getting tons of PP1 time alongside Boyle. PP time and opportunities are not an issue. He's just gripping the stick too hard and trying too hard to make things happen that aren't there. Boyle himself only has 3 measly points more than Burns, and Burns has way more goals... the entire team is struggling so it's not like Burns is on a one-way ship to mediocracy.

Burns is NOT a stay-at-home defenseman or a PK spe******t or anything like that... he's an offensive tool, and that's why he was brought to SJ. The points will come, that team is too talented to stay cold for this long.

blayze is 100% correct. Burns a stay at home D-man is silly talk, sharks already have plenty of that. Sharks D just need more time to gel.
