I'm sure owners will have noticed that Letang is officially on IR in Yahoo.
The Penguins placed Letang (concussion) on IR retroactive to Nov. 26, according to the Penguins' Web site.
Recommendation: Letang's situation remains cloudy, however, because the team said he was placed on IR in order to make room for a defensive callup (Alexandre Picard). In other words, Letang has already sat out three games and is eligible to return from the IR whenever he feels better. Even so, it's hard seeing him come back without a couple days of practice. Pittsburgh is off until Thursday, but at this point it might be wise to bench Letang in weekly leagues. Coach Bylsma has said he's further away from returning than Zbynek Michalek, and Michalek won't play Monday against Boston.

It looks as if there is a silver lining as we will be able to stash him on IR. Also, I'm cautiously optimistic that if the baseline test missed the concussion initially, it might not be severe. However, concussions can be unpredictable so my fingers remain crossed.
Defending champ but still hungover

Anyone got the line on Letang??
Big thanks
@SmittysRant
Doesn't sound promising...
edit: just realized 150swiftly pasted the same thing lol.
One thing to keep in mind, I would not rely too much on that excerpt from CBS Sportsline that was posted. CBS is getting better with their information but it still largely consists of regurgitation of public reports with often unreliable analysis. I would focus more on the Pens blogs and reports. To me, the fact that the Pens put Letang on IR "retroactive" to Nov 26th is if anything a good sign.

Yeah because once put on IR he has to serve at least 3 games before he comes off the IR. If you put a guy on the IR and he could actually play in 2 games time you lose him for one game solely based on the logistics and legalities of the IR rules. Stinky I know, but's that why some teams hold of on placing guys on the IR.

Was Letang officially diagnosed with a concussion, or just symptoms?
According to this, yes he has a concussion but the severity of it is unknown at this time (which explains the retroactive IR placement at the time).

I can assume that he didn't practice today? I sure hope he can be back before long...
Defending champ but still hungover
Here's the latest on Letang as of today. Not good news.
Letang (concussion) is not close to returning and can be safely benched in weekly leagues.
Recommendation: The Penguins will not offer updates on their prized defenseman until his status changes. Considering he's not taking part in team practices, it looks like he'll be out for at least another week.

The scariest part is knowing that based on Crosby's situation, they'll probably hold Letang out longer then they might've otherwise (the old once bitten, twice shy thing), and given how the hit looked, I'd say there's always potential for him to miss the rest of the year. Sure hope not as he was my top d-man pick in my draft.
