Hey guys,

Im currently in need of a 3rd goalie (Luongo and Quick are my starters) and was wondering who you guys would take between:

1. Montoya
2. Smith
3. Elliott
4. Reimer (was just dropped)

Im leaning towards Smith as hes been great all season but Reimer is pretty tempting and Elliott is as well but he isnt the clear cut starter (yet?).

Keep in mind this is a full team keeper with normal yahoo cats

In a full keeper, I would definitely grab Reimer. His long-term value is just far and away a cut above the rest of these guys. Smith is having a great season, but Reimer is in position to be the starting goalie of a young, developing Leafs team for years to come. I'm surprised he is on the WW if you guys are in a full-keeper, he will definitely have some serious value down the road. The problem remains though, with his concussion history there is no guarantee you will get value from him this season.

He's still the easy choice imo.

Grab reimer, worth the gamble, as you already have 2 solid starters.

Id grab Smith right away, he seems to be reaping the reward sof the Phoenix defensive system and getting Bryz-like #s from last year, possibly even better #s, havent looked that closely. He should help you the most this year anyway.

Smith will definitely have the best value "right now", but the question is for how long. Smith right now has a .933 SP, but his career numbers are actually .909 so I would expect him to come back down to earth some point soon.

Smith is the best option for now, but proceed with caution.

I was under the impression that in a full keeper, you want to load up on as much potential value as you can, that way later on down the road when you really need to upgrade the core of your team, you have chips to throw down [aka Reimer]. You already have two solid starters right now, so you're not really relying on this 3rd goalie slot too much as it is; I would most definitely advise going with the long-term value here.

I'd recommend Smith, he's not that old and is a clear cut starter. Reiner hasn't even been in the league 12mos since his first start and may prove in another 12mos that he's not the guy to lead and you have to think if Burke has a shot at someone proven he'll take it with no remorse.

Smith was good in Dallas, fell victim to the post-Bulin goalies woes in TBay and now is thriving in PHO in a good system.
