Does anyone else find it really funny that TSN’s panel of “experts” includes Mike Milbury and JFJ? I wish they had a call in portion to the show so I could ask JFJ what he was thinking moving Rask a few years ago or ask Milbury about any of the number of bad deals he made when he was with the Islanders(Luongo/Jokinen for Kvasha/Parrish, Chara/Spezza for Yashin).

They both were NHL GM\'s so I can understand why they are there but could they pick any two that are worse? :laugh:

Maybe after each trade they\'ll ask both of them what it feels like to raped by another team like that? Or, ask them don\'t you wish you could have made a trade like that so you could still be doing that job?

I\'ll cut JFJ just a little, and I mean a little, slack as MLSE I feel really handcuffed him while he was there.

whats even funnier is if you listen to their \"insight\".

i remember when somebody asked JFJ why he gave all the players the no trade clause, he said something like \"well, mats had it, so we had to give it to everyone\"

so.... since mats is making $7 million, maybe we should resign everybody for $7 million as well!!

but best of all was when Milbury actually criticized washington for giving OVECHKIN a long-term contract... thats right, i kid you not if you missed it.

i thought it was pretty funny how clearly you could tell that maguire and jfj did NOT like each other. there were quite a few tense moments between the two of them during the day yesterday.

one that comes to mind is when maguire was talking about the dallas deal saying that it was a good deal but they are losing a shootout specialist in jokinen, which has to be considered part of special teams now, and which could ultimately hurt them going forward.

and then jfj pipes up, \'yeah, but there is no shootout in the playoffs!\'

maguire was fuming!

Maguire is jealous. He thinks he should be a GM.

Milbury has no room to criticized any other GM\'s. I will grant him this, he is now paid to give his opinion on these things.

And JFJ\'s logic for handing out NTC because Mats had one is very flawed and is rearing it\'s ugly head right now.

I expect most of the 5 with NTC to find their way out this summer. Here\'s my guess:

Sundin not resigned.
Kaberle stays.
Kubina traded at draft.
McCabe for sure and Tucker maybe bought out. McCabe signs on the Island.

As much as I HATE Maguire... if I had to choose between him, JFJ, and Milbury as a GM....I\'d take Maguire, with Maggie the Monkey being a close second before I\'d take those two dimwits.

I acutally really like Maguire. I think he\'s one of the best analyists in the game. I can\'t argue about the tension between him and JFJ but I think it\'s more a personality clash than anything else. The guy I thought that really was a dick was Duffie. Every second question he asked to JFJ was a dig about the job he did as GM. There are a LOT of people on the TSN crew I can\'t stand but Duffie is right up there at the top, closely behind Dreger.

I\'m not a JFJ supporter (I thought he did a crap job as GM but I also think he had his hands tied because of the dysfunctional MLSE board), but I have to say I think he handled the abuse he took yesterday really well. I keep reading he\'s a classy guy and from what I saw/heard it showed yesterday (but I was \"working\" so I didn\'t catch all of it).

But the whole TSN show still has me in stiches. It was so awkward. I mean, most of it is them just trying to fill time until something happens to actually give feedback on. Plus, you hire the recently fired GM of the Leafs to come on to your show when you know (since this is Canada) one of the main topics to discuss to fill time is what moves the Canadian teams and Leafs in particuar are doing/not doing. I would have loved to have been in the TSN studio during the break while the Fletcher press confrence was going on and he was talking about how hard it was to make moves because of the situation the previous management had put him in with regards to NTC\'s and whatnot. Awkward!

The reason those two former GMs were available to do broadcasting is because they weren\'t very good at what they did. It would be tough to get a successful GM to do it because they\'re too busy doing what they do well.

Catch 22 I guess.

Couldn\'t agree more... I enjoy Maguire as an analyst, just not when he\'s commentating on the games, that\'s when I put it on mute to watch the telecast. That 1 up 1 down thing on TSN I\'d laugh as soon as one of them takes a puck in the gut... not the face... that would just be cruel haha

I actually like Hodge and the reporters yesterday in some of their conversations, I thought they were pretty good and on the ball.

In terms of good analysts and play by play...listen to some of the radio guys, they are head and shoulders above any of the Canadian tv dudes, with the exception of davidson.

I find it absolutley hilarious when they rip milbury about his awful trades...first one that comes to mind is when there were rumours that Glenn Healy would become the leafs new GM. James Duthie asked healy what is the first thing he would do if named GM and he replied, \"Oh Id trade for Yashin\"
