Pavelski with 11 points (7 goals) in 9 GP. Looking good.
I hope one day fans at HP will start throwing pickles on the ice. is he super solid or what?
is it just me or our shark's playing with creativity consistently? I've felt like our last few seasons lacked creativity and it seemed like players were held back a bit through a 'system'.
Pavelski with 11 points (7 goals) in 9 GP. Looking good.
SJS' top six is off to an awesome start thus far.
Pavelski, Thornton, and Marleau have combined for 27 points in 27 games played.
Couture, Havlat, and Clowe have combined for 19 points in 23 games played.
Murray shot hits post, Pavs cashes in.....AGAIN
2 more points for pavelski tonight. Wow.
8G and 5A in 9.33 GP.
pk = bad
returning home to play pittsburgh on thursday
5 wins of 6 on the road trip
pavs is awesome
vlasic is sick defensively
burns will take the risk more often than not
pk sucks
demers bound to get scratched again
did thornton do some serious offseason training? his jersey floats in the wind as he skates.
jebus, what a ridiculous backhand from clowe
As for Thornton, he looks like he lost weight and I can see it in his face. His face looks thinner or he's just looking older. Not sure which it is though.
From what I've been seeing lately:
We have good puck control and the Defense is stepping into the rush more than last year.
Burns is a great partner for Vlasic. The best he's had since Blake retired. They actually gel together pretty well and that is a delight to watch.
I'm really hoping to see some serious outburst from the Thornton, Couture, Pavelski line. That just seems crazy and I never thought I'd see it.
I'm sad to see Havlat on the third line lately. He's too good to be down there, and he wasn't doing so poorly that he couldn't play with Marleau and Clowe. Not sure I like seeing Mitchell that high. He's a great energy line guy, but not a scorer or passer like Havlat. I'm not understanding that one at all. He played pretty well with Couture too.
I'm curious if the next shift in lines on top will be:
Couture-Thornton-Havlat
Marleau-Pavelski- Clowe
I think that could work, though I remember a couple seasons back the 2nd line was that way for awhile and it just never really lit up. I'd even settle for trying out Clowe on the top line with Thornton and Couture.
I'm not saying we need to make more shifts in the line changes, but we've seen a lot already and I'm still curious if we've found the best fits, yet.

I think Pavs and Thornton are a lock for this season. I just see it in them. Especially Pavs, he gets in those areas to win pucks then immediately releases and opens up for a one timer. I mean, its ridiculous how many times he has done it this year. Hes uped his game to another level no doubt about it.
I agree with Havlat, definitely shouldnt be on the 3rd. But I gotta say Clowe-Marleau-Havlat was really ugly.
I think we're gonna have another yr of low scoring 3rd and 4th lines. Winning teams have a 3rd line that can take over at times, and I'm not too sure if we have that..
EDIT - Sorry wrong thread.
Hattrick marleau!!!!!!!!!!
I guess I'm not the only one noticing Havlat's time on the 3rd line

I don't think Havlat will stay there, although Mitchell had a sweet chance to set up Marleau but Marleau couldn't quite get the shot off.

To be honest, I'm surprised Havlat hasn't really been tried next to Thornton. Though why mess with the lines that are working well? Who knows, maybe he'll get traded for someone depth pieces down the line. I feel like the Sharks could trade for some depth with Greiss and Nitty as serviceable backups. I'd like to see the sharks go after key 3rd liners. Handzus is a good one to have and I think he'll be good for us. The type of players I think would be good are the Peverley's, Kelly's. The type of 3rd liners that have some scoring pop and give us more depth up front so when one of the top 6 gets hurt we can rotate some young studs up. Toronto is a team I think can use a guy like Nittymaki or Greiss. They have some gritty 3rd liner types that would be great to get. We'll just have to see though. I'm a huge fan of Versteeg of the Panthers and would love to see us go after a guy like him.
