Would you do it? Im a Bryz owner. I would have all the starts in philly locked up. Am i missing the Markstrom upside, or is it time to cash in?

is it because markstrom;s talent level is so much higher? Or that BOB is stuck behind Bryz? What is the reason you are saying no way?

It's because his talent level is so much higher. He is one of the top 3 goalie prospects any were and could very well be there starter this year. Not in a million years do you make this trade

to generate some more discussion why does dobber have them ranked so close in his latest goalie rankings?

    Markstrom - 31

    Bobrovsky - 34

there must be something to this bobrovsky hype?

....not to mention Bobrovsky will be riding the pine for the next 7 years.

Marskstrom will be Floridas #1 very soon,if not next week.

Theodore is injury prone abd could end up on IR at any time.

I think Markstrom stays up even when Clemmensen returns.

If you consider that Bobrovsky started last season for the Flyers while Markstrom is playing in his third NHL game tonight (for a much poorer team), that should tell you something about the estimation of his talent level in comparison to Bob, that Markstrom is the one ranked higher.

Look, forget about all of the rankings, and all of the hype. Just do 4 things for yourself:

    1) Watch some footage from Markstrom's first career start, last week against Washington.
    2) Watch the third period of the Panthers-Islanders game from the other night (he relieved an ailing Theodore in the third period, and stole that game for the Panthers... who were heavily dominated by the Islanders... to get his first career win).
    3) Watch some footage from his start tonight in Montreal.
    4) Pick the best game from Bobrovsky's entire NHL career.

If you do that, then you will understand the difference in talent level between the two. Bobrovsky is a very solid goaltender, but he is nothing special on his own. The bulk of his fantasy value comes from the fact that he plays behind the Flyers. Markstrom, on the other hand, is not only naturally gifted with great size, but has world class technique and athleticism. This guy is shaping up to be one of the best goalies in the world, and we might not have to wait too long for that to happen.

When you consider their respective situations, I actually think you have to give the nod to Jacob on this as well. As others have said, Bobrovsky is stuck behind Bryzgalov on the depth chart for the next 7 years, while Markstrom has a real chance to take over the majority of starts for the Panthers as early as this season. The Flyers are obviously the better team, but Florida is vastly improved this year... and it wouldn't be the first time Dale Tallon took a mess of a franchise and transformed it into a contender. So, Markstrom has the better "time-share" situation of the two, and the Panthers appear to be on the rise.

Markstrom is clearly the better option of the two.
