You forget that we still have a pair of gloves for Hossa, so it\'s not like we end up empty handed.
The team is fine offensively and I am thinking they have been impressed with Ryder lately.
I also think that Price can handle it between the pipes.
So the Habs did okay - should have got a LITTLE more for Huet, but they did not need to do moves. They have a good system.
Vancouver, on the other hand, needed help. Not Pettinger.

2011-12 and 2013-14 Champion! (I was disqualified in 2012-13 by the commish. Reason given: tanking)
I agree that our system is great for the long-run and that we shouldn\'t make any big changes, and that another \'big\' trade might have been bad for us... but frankly I\'d have preferred no trade to this one, I\'d take Huet (if only for our playoff run this year) over a 2nd round pick.
As big as I wanted Hossa or another big name in MTL, I have to somehow agree with you.
I still have a doubt on Huet move and if the Leafs got a 2nd and a 5th for Gill, we should have gotten more for Huet.
Anyway time will tell!
vancouver blows it EVERY year. Tell me the last trade deadline that vancouver addressed any of their issues?
The only positive thing they did in the last decade it seems is bringing in luongo but that was done in the offseason.
The nucks sure are a hard team to be a fan of this time of year.

Hey Dobber,
I think Montreal\'ll be fine.. but it just feels like they did blow it a little bit... Huet for a 2nd round pick seems like robbery, i was positive it was to clear some space.. as if it was just a deadline UFA deal.. why didn\'t they do that with Souray (and get a shitload more for him) last year
Dissapointed with Losing Huet for so little (though it\'s more then we\'d have we he left.. but still)
Glad he didn\'t just tinker, and add guys like motzko or pettinger or something though... Basically.. Price was just handed the team today... which i can deal with
Vancouver... you are dead on, Nonis needs to grow some bawls
Surprised Boston didn\'t do anything either to tell you the truth
Like was reported in the ramblings earlier, Atlanta was trying to squeeze the Habs too much.
Gainey is smarter than that and he is not going to rip his present and up and comming talent apart for one player who is not even guaranteed to be around at the end of the season.
I agree the Habs should\'ve gotten more for Huet than what they got for sure, but they didn\'t blow it. They still have a good team.
...if I might add, we are currently dating, and she is quite a handful in the bedroom...
Even with Hossa, I dont see the Habs as a being a legit cup contender. It wouldnt be enough to go up against the likes of Detriot or Anaheim. Seems like Gainey wasn\'t willing to give up a bunch of youth to still be behind those top teams.
And I agree with the opinions on the Huet trade. Should\'ve been a 2nd round pick ++. He\'s not worth a 1st, but certainly worth more than a 2nd.

... the were also winning this time last year, and a couple years back when bertzzi and nazzy had 90+ points. Neither time did they make it out of the Western Conference in the playoffs... neither time did they address their issues.lanky522 wrote:

well, except for all the recent winning
I expect more of the same this season...
... prove me wrong nucks... (or should I say, \"sedins and luey\"
Even though I\'m sorely disappointed, I have to agree with Dobber. I\'ve been wanting to see what Price and Halak can do together.
But I\'m happy he didn\'t give up anything for a rental, and disappointed he didn\'t get enough for Huet.
