With the way Hall/RNH/Eberle are putting on a show I would really like to see him back in my lineup lol.
Any updates on him? Is he practicing yet? Heard he hurt the same ankle.

Not sure, I read a somewhat alarming article where he indicated a huge level of frustration with where he's at with his foot problem. In a nutshell, he feels like he should be much more ahead of the game in his recovery but the problem persists. Even back to the Pittsburgh (and then Anaheim) days, this foot issue has been a recurring problem causing him to miss LOTS of games. As a Whitney owner, I'd be worried to say the least.

Ryan Whitney (ankle) will travel with the Edmonton Oilers to Vancouver and Minnesota and hopes to get into one game.
Whitney is the Oilers top offensive defenseman and Edmonton really needs him back in the lineup. His ankle has taken a long time to heal as he has been out since late December and needed surgery to correct the injury. He had 27 points including two goals, in 35 games last season, to go with a plus-13 for the lowly Oilers. He is a top-15 fantasy defenseman when healthy. Sep 29 - 10:33 AM
love to see him play once before the season starts, then he will know how ready he is

Ryan Whitney (ankle) will not play in any preseason games.
Whitney was hoping to get into one game game on the weekend but that is unlikely to happen now. "I don’t think I'll be playing this weekend," Whitney said. "I'd like to be ready for the first game of the regular season, but I have no clue, really. That's a bridge we're going to cross when we come to it. I'm just hoping to get healthy as quick as I can. The only thing I've told the trainers is that the last three days it's been dull pain and not sharp pain. Definitely better than it was three weeks ago. With sharp pain you can't play. Dull pain, as it lessens, is fine because it's not shooting or debilitating." Whitney has been out since late December and is questionable at best to play in the opener on Oct. 9. Sep 30 - 8:49 AM
Definitely not a good situation but the problems he had in Pittsburgh are (apparently) not related to the problems he is having now.
It seemed like he was out of action so early last season. I really expected him to be back and in prime condition right now. It's been a long time!
Yeah but the Oilers have some awesome depth on defense, they will be fine.
Um...
Ok maybe not.
Just got a call.
Smid is injured in tonight's game. And Fedun. And Chorney.
Oilers playing with 3 defense against the Wild tonight.
I'd say this is standard Oilers regular season right here.
Does this injury story remind anyone else of the Forsberg saga...?
Rotisserie since 1989, league I am in now has been running, non stop, since 1991.... founding member...
Whitney (ankle) could begin the season on IR, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Recommendation: Whitney hasn't played all pre-season, so this should not come as a shock. Even if the Oilers believe Whitney could play Sunday, they may place him on IR anyway as Whitney can be taken off the list at anytime since he ended last season also on IR.
