Kane & Kovy for Stamkos

My head is saying no, but my gut is saying "how many times do you have a chance to land a Stamkos?"

I know i have to overpay, but is this too much? I was hoping to contend.

Im trying for roy instead of kovy. Kanes a must on his end.

I countered with okposo/seto to even it but he would only do Boyes (who i just dropped)

I also countered with Oshie to even it, but no word yet.

If it comes down to just the 241, I still think I may need to do it. Two top 15-20 players for one of the big 4. Real tough

I wouldn't do it. Too much to give up for one player. It hurts the depth of your team.
I doubt Stamkos stays a top 5 guy after Marty St.Louis retires in a few years unless he picks up a similar linemate...

Big overpayment for Stamkos. I would not do it. The only way I'd do this deal if yours was a very limited keeper league and I don't see that in your post.

I wouldn't do Kane and Kovy for Stamkos without something on the other side to weight it out. since hes only offering you Boyes you definitely need to downgrade one of those players on our side. Roy + kane isn't too bad a offer IMO if you really want Stamkos but trading for Stamkos could hurt your chances at winning this year since you'll almost certainly be overpaying. I also wouldn't include him in "the big 4" because its actually the big 3 still. Stamkos is just visiting for a while.

hmmmn, thanks boys. Toughie for me. I can see the St. Louis retirement impact for sure, but really do see Stammer as a 50-50-100 pt guy, and as ours is a goal heavy league, he is a real nice cornerstone.

I love Kane, but don't see him as a 50 goal guy and never really liked the fit of Kovy in NJ, but ya, the thought of what I give up in a contending year is making me really consider this move carefully.

It may come down to Stammer and one of Oshie/Brassard for Kane/Kovy. Think I'd have to pull the trigger if so.

Loco, it depends on who you think Brassard could become. I'm not convinced he'll ever break out.

Just don't be too over-anxious with the other GM. He's holding firm. You really do need something back. Odds are good that Stamkos outscores both of your guys but it's not a certainty. I don't think anyone would be shocked if Ilya rebounded and played like he did at the end of last year. Especially with Parise back with him on the PP.

Think I may have to let this one pass, though I really would love to add Stamkos.

I have offered Kane/keith 241 and I would consider Kane/Kovy for Stamkos and one of E.Kane/Okposo/Oshie/Setogouchi if he is interested, but I am pretty sure he wants only the Kane/Kovy 241, which by all accounts, it too steep.

Shifted gears and sent Kovy/Keith for Backstrom

Steep price, but I like Backs almost as much as Stamkos AND I get to keep a foundation of Kane and Backstrom.
