Turris and Coyotes not even close in their contract negotiations. Reportedly, Turris wants either a three-year deal worth just over $12 million or a two-year contract at about $6 million. Wow. Not sure why they think he's earned that yet. Don't think the Coyotes are going to dish out anything even close to what Turris is asking. IMO, Turris should get a similar contract to Boedker's, based on his performance so far.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

I have to admit that I wondered about that too. He surely knows that of all teams to be demanding such a contract from, the Coyotes can not & will not award that much to an unproven player. Sure Turris has unknown potential but that is all it is at this point- potential.
I also agree that it is ill-advised.

I consider the Turris demands as irrational at best. The agent that suggests and/or approves this kind of contract demand is insane and should be fired immediately before he severely hurts his client's future in the NHL.

Hey, any idea if there is a chance that Boedker could play in a RW position in PHO? He is a LW but I have no idea if he can play both wings or where he may be most needed. If you have any insight into that I would much appreciate it!

The agent for Phoenix center Kyle Turris does not expect his client to report to training camp unless his contract is extended.
Turris is reportedly seeking $3-$4 million per year depending on the length of the deal. As mentioned in an azcentral.com blog last week, general managers are wary of giving a player such a deal unless previous performance warrants. Turris has 19 goals in 121 career games. "The Turris camp has taken a position that is very hard to defend or justify," said Phoenix GM Don Maloney.

Not quite career suicide, but it's a step in that direction for sure. It's one thing if the GM is being stingy, but when players get a bit too greedy it usually doesn't end well.

Hello from mostly sunny Phoenix. We will see a high of 95F/35C today.
Training camp roster and schedule. Veterans report tomorrow.

The big question on everyone's mind is- what will happen to Kyle Turris?
There is a growing belief that he is trying to force a trade out of Phoenix. I don't think this is the way to go about it, if indeed that is what he is trying to do.

From coyotes.nhl.com-
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Brett Hextall scored two goals in the third period and Colin Long notched three assists to lead the Coyotes rookies to an 8-7 win over the Los Angeles Kings rookies on Wednesday night in the first of two exhibition games between the Pacific Division rivals.
The Coyotes trailed 6-3 after two periods but rallied to beat the Kings at the Toyota Sports Center.
Hextall, whom the Coyotes selected in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, is the son of Kings assistant general manager Ron Hextall, who was watching the game from a perch above the ice.
“I knew where he was sitting because they have that corner where the management sits, but I didn’t let myself look up there,” Brett told the Los Angeles Times. “...he sent me the text he usually sends me before games that says, ‘Give 'er hell out there. I love you.' It put me a little bit at ease."
Like Hextall, Evan Bloodoff also scored twice for Phoenix. Lucas Lessio, Darian Dziurzynski, Andy Miele and Brendan Shinnimin scored one goal each for the Coyotes.
Mark Visentin started in goal for Phoenix and stopped 29 of 35 shots. Marc Cheverie relieved him and stopped 9 of 10 shots. LA's final goal was an empty-netter.
The teams will play again on Thursday at 2 p.m. (Arizona time). The game will be streamed live at phoenixcoyotes.com

Coyotes GM Don Maloney calls Kyle Turris' position in the contract negotiations "so illogical."
Turris is reportedly seeking $3-$4 million per year depending on the length of the deal. He certainly has plenty of upside, but Maloney understandably isn't interested writing Turris a check based on his potential alone. Turris had just 11 goals and 25 points in 65 games last season, so it's fair to say that he still has a lot to prove. Maloney also said that he's not interested in trading Turris.
