Here's what I have used to great success in the past.
1 excel worksheet with the team names across the top and the dates of the season down the side and in each little box is indicated if a team plays and if it is @ or vs and who the other team is. B2B's are obvious of course.
I leave a row under each week (in my case Monday starts) so that I can indicate the number of games played by the team in a week - this helps me with at a glance decision making for my weekly starts league.
Not particularly smooth and a little cumbersome but it does everything I want it to do. If you could automate that in anyway - all the better. I just cut the past week out of the worksheet and insert it at the top of worksheet two (which I never refer to again, mind you) so that the current week is on the top of the active worksheet.
I run a row for total of B2B's for each team at the bottom of the page, just for reference.
Something like this is most useful for H2H league, but I do like the spreadsheet in a roto league, because I can project games utilized by position and by specific player, by modifying the spreadsheet for this purpose.

actually the site indicated above has their sheet set-up opposite to what I have done and I actually think it would work better for roto leagues and doesn't matter for H2H (6 of one)
