Blackhawks say "Patrick Sharp underwent an emergent surgical appendectomy this evening" and will be out three or four weeks.
Damnit... At least he shouldn't miss much time.
appendectomies are rough, but can sometimes heal in 1-2 weeks. Depends on the person.

It really would be nice having him back in time for that double header with Dallas..

I wouldn't be too worried about this costing Sharp much playing time.. appendectomies aren't really that big of a deal. imho.
Had that surgery back in the 80's, ( and I presume they're probably even less invasive to the abs nowadays ) and literally was able to walk and function normally the moment I woke from the anaesthetic.
3 days later, played a highschool football game [WR]...didn't even notice a twinge. Sure, that was much younger than Sharp is - but he's not exactly in terrible shape, eh ?
As an interesting aside : after all the fluids that were IV'd into me for the surgery....when I came to, the first pressing need was for a hospital bathroom...and I had a whiz that lasted almost 2 minutes. It was glorious, and at that moment - felt like the greatest, most satisfying, (possibly the achievement of a lifetime ) thing in the world ! Just thought you would all want to know that.
