Default 11 yr old NOT awarded $50k prize for scoring 90 footer

such an all around lame story...the Dad basically taught his sons how to be chumps and that honestly doesn't pay (not that I condone lying, but c'mon this was the whitest of white lies). The company awarding the prize show that while they like the free publicity they get from these kind of promotions they'll take any loophole they can to get out of actually paying up...did the kid not score the goal? he did...did he misrepresent his age or anything similar that might actually matter for the purposes of the contest? No. Ridiculous on all fronts IMO

the person who was supposed to take the shot didn't take it. you're not rewarded for lying about who you are, kids learn a good lesson at a young age.

I imagine this thing was run similar to a hole in one competition where the organizer took out insurance on a successful shot - in this case it would be the insurance company making the decision to pay out or not. Can't imagine any insurance company paying out on this, as I am sure part of the policy would specify how contestants qualify to take the shot and this kid didn't qualify, his brother did.

Seems harsh, but I think the dad just handed out a much more valuable prize to his kids anyway.

this whole thing's a bit lame, but I guess they learned their lesson.

I haven't learned a ton in this life but the one thing that has stuck with me is that the man will **** you every chance he gets so when you get an opportunity to return the favor its usually a good idea to jump at that chance. Whatever corporation sponsored this event was going to give that money away that night, that's the price they paid for the free advertizing so what the hell does it matter? The only lesson the Dad passed on here was that nice guys finish last and robbed his kids of 50k for their college, their hockey camp, whatever.

In a society thats has lost it's values for the allmighty dollar and where parents tend to set bad examples , I am impressed by this story.
    It doesn't pay to lie!
Setting an example to your kids by doing the right thing is a priceless reward!
The only lame part about this is that only $20k was given to charity , whereas they should have rewarded the family for their honesty and great family values by donating all the winnings to charity.
This is one of those situations where many feel that , come on give the kid the money , what's the big deal right? WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
Does it suck yeah , is it the right thing and the best thing , is it sending the right message , is it teaching are youth and the rest of us to do the right thing , that "cheating" is wrong , absolutely!

Should've said he bought the ticket for his brother. Lets all be realists for a minute- that's just an excuse for the company so they can get out of dishing 50k to a 11 year old. They're such ******** that they only donated 20k out of the 50k to charity, which I'm sure is a lie to make people think they've done something moral. Don't say you'll reward something than back out of it when the achievement happens.
