    Default Crosby for Ovechkin?

    Hi everyone,

I apologize in advance if this has been asked before.

With Crosby's current situation, do you guys think it's a good move to get him for Ovechkin. I was having a discussion with a friend of mine and he said the injury concern was not worth the extra 10 pts he will give you compared to Ovechkin (In my opinion the gap could be much larger that 10 pts).

I personally think he will come back at 100%. If not this year, next year for sure. I will most likely not be a contender in my league this year and I'm considering offering Ovechkin to the Crosby owner. I'm a gambler by nature and I have a feeling that it might be worth it. What do you guys think? Is he worth the risk? Or should I stick with Ovechkin?

    Thanks in advance.

You gotta keep Ovechkin right now. And this is coming from Pens fan/ Crosby fan / Crosby owner. Unless you're also Pens and Crosby fan, it makes much more sense to keep Ovechkin.

If you want to gamble, offer him Datsyuk for Crosby and see what he says.

LOL, I don't think he'll be willing to do that just yet. Thanks!

Looking at your sig, this is one of the only leagues in which Ovie for a healthy Crosby might be a worthwhile trade. Because you don't have to worry about position scarcity or other stat categories Crosby will most likely out point Ovie 9/10 seasons.

That being said, who knows when Crosby will come back 100% and I can't see crosby consistently out-pointing Ovie by much more than 10 points. Save yourself the headache. Keep Ovie and enjoy.

You absolutely want to keep Ovechkin here, like everyone else has already pointed out. Compare the two studs' history:

    Ovechkin
    2005: 106(81)
    2006: 92(82)
    2007: 112(82)
    2008: 110(79)
    2009: 109(72)
    2010: 85(79)

    Crosby
    2005: 102(81)
    2006: 120(79)
    2007: 72(53)
    2008: 103(77)
    2009: 109(81)
    2010: 66(41)

History shows that the two are pretty close in production, year in, year out, with only one year that Crosby outscored Ovechkin significantly(2006). I would take Ovechkin and his excellent attendance record vs. Crosby and his current health status. Heck, even if both were healthy, it's pretty damn close.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Right now, I would keep Ovechkin over Crosby. All things equal, Sid is the best player in the league and would be my choice everytime, now that he's shown he's a volume goal scorer. Unfortunately not everything is equal right now....I don't buy into the doom and gloom reports about Sid's concussion and I'm sure he'll continue to play, but a bad concussion like that....there's a very real chance Sid gets another one at some point in his career.

I like the Datsyuk suggestion....maybe you can even add something else. If the other GM is scared at all, he might jump at an offer like that. But Ovechkin is the much safer choice right now, and the potential gap between Sid and Ovi isn't big enough to take that kind of risk.
