This is all assuming that the reason they shipped him out wasn't because they were fed up with his work ethic like Phoenix and NY supposedly experienced, but since the deal got them Mueller back I think it was just a business deal more than anything.
IIRC Colorado traded Wolski because his contract demands were too high. Looks like they were right then and doubt they want him back with a high salary when they weren't willing to give him that in the first place and he has underperformed badly since the trade.

    Oh..that I did not know.

Regardless though, I still don't really see a downside to getting Wolski from the Avs perspective. The past is the past, yes Wolski is overpaid but you have to get to the cap floor somehow. According to capgeek Colorado already has 23 players signed and are under the floor by just over 2 million dollars. His contract is expiring this season so he won't be their problem after this year and they may even be able to sell him at the deadline if he's performing well.

The best part is I"m sure NY will be willing to give him away for virtually nothing. It would be a big favour to them to not have a portion of his contract lingering on their payroll for another year.

Wolski has played with Stastny and Duchene before and the wings on their depth chart are questionable at best. If they want to avoid being a lottery pick (which they gave to Washington), I think this is a pill they have to swallow.

Colorado should get over the cap floor by just giving Landeskog the rookie max. Replace Lindstrom with Landeskog and they're just over the cap floor.

If I remember right Wolski was in Sacco's doghouse on many occasions. I think they've already seen what Wolski has to offer and don't want to do it all again. Wolski just doesn't fit with what the Avs are trying to build. They want hard-working character guys and Wolski isn't one. There are other salary dumps to be had besides Wolski if it comes down to it.

Damnit I don't want them to do that!

lol, I can see your point though. With a young team like that having a dbag in the room is probably a turnoff. It would really suck for them to be a lottery team next year though and experience what the Leafs did in the 2010 draft.

Well it's going to happen anyway. You can count on Landeskog's cap hit to be pretty much exactly the same as Seguin's; that is $3.55 million.

Don't know if Wolski is a douchebag or just lazy and unmotivated but still not what the Avs need.

I hope the Avs will do alright next year. I don't want to see the Caps getting Yakupov or any other top prospect next summer with the Avs' pick. But the chances of it being a top-10 pick are very high.

I agree. I'm still AMAZED at the return GMGM got for Varlamov, fall off my chair astounded.

Especially considering he was ready to go to the KHL. Not like GMGM had any leverage...
