Who from Sweden will be closest to Lidstom

Great post. Next to Bobby Orr, it's Lidstrom and Doug Harvey, and then Ray Bourque, and then everyone else. If any of these guys comes even close to that, they will have had a wildly successful career.

There are stars, there are superstars, and then there are once in a generation players. Lidstrom is part of the latter category.

No doubt. None of these guys will achieve the level of greatness that Lidstrom has. The real question should be: Who will be Sweden's next great defenseman?

Im going to say nobody. Lidstrom comparisons are way too common.

this is what I was coming to post...its pretty much the equivalent of saying which of the new crop of forwards is going to be the next Mario Lemieux

Its tough to say any of these guys will be as good as Lidstrom because he's one of the best D to ever play the game and continues to silence his critics at the age of 41. As someone from Toronto who hates Alfredsson and the Senators but is a Red Wings fan, its possible Ottawa has one of those guys in Karlsson or Rundblad. If its any of those guys I wouldn't be surprised, as Dobber and others mentioned Oliver Ekman-Larsson is the only other player that has that kind of potential.
