They definately offered him less then Markov. Souray\'s agent has said he will listen to anything else the Habs have to say but more then likely they are awaiting July 1st.

Edmonton desperately needs a power play defenceman, missing since Pronger and Bergeron (oops) left town. I didn\'t realize until today that Souray is from Elk Point, Alberta. It might be more attractive playing in front of family and friends (if they are still there). They could pair him up with Jason Smith or Staios so that they can cover for his occasional brutal defensive lapses at even strength.
I think he takes a small step back next year and puts up 55-60 points.

Was just discussing this he other day with my hockey bud. We were thinking that San Jose is the perfect fit for him. Unload 1 of their goalies and maybe Marleau like the talk has been, free up some money and then sign him(not sure how close they are to the cap). He\'s on the west coast(wife\'s happy), not on a rebuilding team(he\'s happy), has an excellent cast of players around him, the PP would be just insane and after the meltdown on the PP against Detroit they could use a PP stud like Souray. If he went to SJ i\'d think you could even see a higher point total than last year. Who would the other teams defend against, his shot or Mighty Joe\'s creativity, madness.

Well I hate to beat this one to death but earlier the skinny was that he would prolly go FA and then to LAK. He is supposed to go to California cuz thats the only way he can reconcile with the wife an kids. So SJ is maybe a possibility too. If you saw a pic of his wife you\'d move there to!:P
Edm I don\'t think any FA players are trying to go there I believe its right up there with MTL in that regard.:laugh:
