I believe he was actually ready to go near the end of the season, but not quite at 100% but good enough to play. Islanders kept him out cause there's no point rushing him back early if the team wasn't making the playoffs anyways. He should be back to 100% during training camp but I'm sure there is going to be rust that he will need to work off. Still an attractive defensive option considering Tavares is going to better this year as well to compliment him on PP.

I wouldn't hesitate to keep him. I can see him starting off rusty, but the Isles offence was starting to pretty good at the end of the year. Striet shoudl be in for another 50+ season.
