Just saying people got a lot , and i mean A LOT of free expensive shit last night. I truly feel a few select and these are the stupidest people will be arrested with minor charges put against them. But all in all, this was gonna happen and the cops clearly werent interested in putting a absolute stop to this right away. In a weeks time this will be old news.

That guy has guts - I would honestly like to shake his hand. In the face of thousands of these people, two guys stand in front of the windows fending people off, only to be overcome by the sheer numbers.

I was very disturbed by this video...the people just going along like its normal for teen girls and thugs with 70 IQ's to kick in windows and beat a man in the street.

An absolute disgrace. People wonder why I am a misanthrope.

I think more accurate would be 6,595 Bertuzzi jerseys...

This will never be old news. It will always haunt our city.

On a lighter note, the police should have called in tim thomas, he could have put a stop to this!

The interesting thing is that the size of the group of bystanders is likely a factor in this case... people are less likely to respond to a problem when they think someone else will.

Interesting Study on response time vs group size.

Throw in conformity tendencies that are likely 'encourage' more people to commit acts of vandalism and presto, you have a shit show. (technically the study is on providing 'incorrect responses' but I think we can agree that kicking a window at the Bay is an 'incorrect response')

The guys standing in front of the window are more of an exception to the norm in that situation than are the people doing nothing.

Agree one hundred percent. I've avoided these videos for as long as I could, but today I just had to look at some of them and I just can't believe that this is actually happening in goddamn Vancouver. ****ing animals.

So for my girlfriend's birthday, I took her to "Wicked" tonight, the musical that's playing at the Queen Elizabeth Theater here in Vancouver. This is the Theater that was mentioned on the news during the riot, where everyone had to stay inside the building until the riot subsided.

We walked around this part of downtown for awhile before the show, as this was in the core area of the riot. Overall it was barely noticeable that anything happened, all those that came down and helped with the clean-up did an excellent job. There were a few charred spots on the road, which were clearly the spots where vehicles were torched.

While we were reading notes on the Blenz (coffee shop) that had it's windows smashed, a couple of guys walked by and yelled "This is what happens when you oppress people"..........

Anyways, I don't agree with poverty and oppression, and I also don't agree with rioting and looting. I'll leave it at that. As for the rest of what we saw tonight:

The bank (BMO) windows that were smashed are all covered in plywood with thousands of messages on it - mostly positive, but with the odd negative comment. Most messages thanked the fans, thanked the VPD, thanked those who cleaned up. Some messages said this act wasn't representative of their city, and some messages ripped into the rioters.

There was even a "Congratulations Bruins" which no one has blocked out or vandalized. Im sure TG and 4T2 will be happy to hear that

Someone wrote "Luongo should use his $10 million dollars to clean up this mess since it's all Luongo's fault"...............someone did a pretty good job of crossing out Luongo's name (which was definitely classy thing to do). Hopefully someone else will cross out the salary amount, as clearly that's the identifier without the name.

Anyways, since I live here in Vancouver, and was downtown tonight, I just thought I would share with the rest of Dobber Nation. I must say it was pretty interesting living about 10 minutes from the chaos the other night, and then going to check it out a few days later.
