Not sure. I've seen tape of both Larsson and Rundblad taking the body - not so much from Elliott - but others who have seen a lot of Stefan Elliott could verify.

Here's another question for the group:

I have the 2nd overall pick in my upcoming draft. Let me know what you would do in the following scenarios (please factor in the point formula in my sig below):

    Scenario #1 - Larsson (D) goes 1st overall, do I:
    A.) Draft Elliott (D) 2nd overall
    B.) Draft Nugent-Hopkins (F) 2nd overall
    C.) Draft Landeskog (F) 2nd overall
    D.) Draft Huberdeau/Couturier/Strome/Hamilton/Murphy/Hamonic (F/D) 2nd overall

    Scenario #2 - Nugent-Hopkins goes 1st overall, do I:
    A.) Draft Larsson (D) 2nd overall
    B.) Draft Elliott (D) 2nd overall
    C.) Draft Landeskog (F) 2nd overall
    D.) Draft Huberdeau/Couturier/Strome/Hamilton/Murphy/Hamonic (F/D) 2nd overall

Scenario #2 is the most likely one you will be facing. I dont like to draft defenceman right out of the NHL entry draft as they almost always take a long to time pay off. I would always rather draft a forward.

So I guess its C or D from scenario #2.

For scenario #1, you would draft RNH without any hesitation.

    A-Wedge,

Keep in mind D are very valuable in my point format - a 50pt. defenseman is gold and a more valuable asset than a 75pt. forward. With this is mind, the only forward I could see being drafted at #1 is RNH (with 85+ LT upside).

Do you really think Landeskog, Couturier, Huberdeau, etc. have a better chance at realistically hitting 80+ than Larsson or Elliott do hitting 50+? Because that's what it would take for me to draft them over Larsson/Elliott with the 2nd overall.

If Larsson gets picked 1st overall (which has a good chance of happening) do I go with the "safe" pick in Nugent-Hopkins or roll the dice with Elliott and hope he turns into a 50-pointer? I guess you feel RNH is the "must take" here if available?

I didn't notice the defensive scoring advantage. Sorry.... 50 point defenceman is more valuable than a 75 point forward? RNH is definitely 80+ in my opinion. In scenario #1, I'm still thinking RHN b/c he will likely pay off faster than the other defenceman will.

Its much tougher now in scenario #2. Dmen take ages to pay off as an investment, but they do appear to maybe have the edge here. I'm impatient tho. I usually draft who I think I have the best shot at trading for a profit.

    Scenario #1: Take RNH.
    Scenario #2: Take Elliott.

Why is Elliott available in your draft when all those other players are from the 2011 Entry Draft?

Thanks Jouko. There are a bunch of non-2011 draft prospects available in my draft - Elliott, Orlov, Gormley, Barrie, Hamonic, Leddy, Maclean, Boedker, Colborne, Tedenby, Gragnani, Johansson, Hishon, Kreider, Erixon and more.

Scenario #1 is easy - RNH obviously

Scenario #2 is a bit tougher - I would lean towards one of Huberdeau/Couturier (probably Huberdeau for me)

Elliott should fall a bit in your draft and I don't think you can justify taking him 2nd overall. Orlov appears to be a nice consolation prize if you happen to miss out on Elliott.

Thanks Deaner. Yeah, I was hoping to draft RNH with my 2nd overall pick then draft Elliott with my pick 20th overall but I don't think he will be there at 20. I was actually thinking along the same lines - taking RNH at 2 and if Elliott is gone at 20 - I would take Orlov, Gormley, Barrie or Gragnani.

Everyone, PLEASE stop advising Fungchen and just let him take Elliott #2. I have the 4, 8, and 10 picks and I want some of my targets to slide to me. Much Thanks.

I'm 100% taking Elliott 2nd overall. I'm getting the Elliott Jets jersey stitched as we speak - he's wearing #2 because #6 is taken by E.Johnson.

I just received a text from Stefan himself - he's blocking off dates in September to come to Philly to put on the jersey in person. I told him the Scouts GM will have a few Smirnoff malts on ice for him.
