It's not terrible, but I personally don't really like it. I like Carlson and he's a great guy to have going forward but what are you expecting from him? I consider Kaberle an elite talent (and will even be better when he's no longer a leaf)...so are you thinking Carlson is going to be better? It's obviously debatable but Carlson's not proven enough....

Adding in Wolski (who I think is very talented just having a terrible year) doesn't make sense. I think the deal straight up is fair...some might say that Wolski is finished but he's still under 25 (I think) and already has a season over 60pts under his belt...I think he has another gear if he can just find consistent linemates (and a more consistent game)...

The final point I would like to make is that your team doesn't look like it's in rebuild mode so this trade was quite unnessary. In fact, your team looks poised to compete year-in, year-out...not sure why you made trade?

Based on your D, you shaved about ten years off your roster.

Wolski is dead weight, but Kaberle holds value especially if he gets traded.

Personnaly I like the deal because of Carlsons upside. An extra pick on his part would have made me feel better.

    Bravo!

Carlson'ds upside? I know he will get better...he has the talent...but what are we expecting from him? I mean, Kaberle is a guy who's produced 50+pts seasons on a regular basis...some would categorize that as elite...and IF Carlson realizes his potential (I think he will) he will likely only ever match what Kabby has done...

To say Wolski is dead weight is strong IMO. He's still very young, very talented and has already proven he can score in the NHL. Who knows what will happen to him, but I like having guys who have shown me something at the NHL level...and he has...

I think you are over valuing a prospect. Kaberle is worth more than John Carlson right now. He's got at least 2 more years peak performance left.

I agree, even though you lose Kabby you gain a d-man with a very good team around him and he should produce for you in the future.
    Wolski sucks.

    Good deal!

Wolski will play his way out of the league within two years. O'Sullivan clone.

Carlson<Kaberle right now both are going in opposite directions and as long as Kaberle rots in TO I like this trade more and more.

    D John Carlson 52 5 16 21 12 1 0 3 38 90 5.56 21:55
    D Tomas Kaberle 51 2 30 32 -5 0 0 1 12 87 2.30 22:29

Neither are playing to their peak right now, but to date with your stat cats, Carlson wins straight up.

I like both, but if I was to build around one, it would be Pietrangelo based on his situation. The safer bet is Carlson, but I think Pietrangelo could be a mean streak away from Pronger.
