Aren't we worrying a little too early? His success hurts me, but it's only one game.

i second chico's thoughts...i need something to open the door for leighton, but it was just one game. and now they have some time off to think about things. bob will be ok. too early to say its over. and if it is over, its not because of this game...its because of a coaching decision.

I think it's still too early. Leighton has to perform. If he does, and Boucher keeps it up, then Bob is in trouble. If Bob rebounds and Leighton plays well, then the Flyers have a tough decision to make. Bob hasn't been stellar, as of late, but he's done enough to not be dismissed so quickly.

I was just thinking about this while reading and replying to Goldies article today... I can't help but feel that Bobrovsky is folding a little bit to the pressure of the current goalie situation in Philly (His December numbers aren't stellar).

The bottom line is that Philly needs a goalie that can handle the playoffs and Bobrovsky is giving them second thoughts about putting him in that role. Sure, he might step up his game if Leighton disappears tomorrow... but it still leaves a fair bit of uncertainty on what will happen when the pressure mounts again.

Philly needs to figure who they can rely on when it counts... so maybe, just maybe.. keeping Bobrovsky on reserve in the minors is the best chance they have at hedging their bets.

Bob being sent down may happen, but Boucher isn't exactly consistent either. The jury is still out on Leighton. Will his back hold up? Can he regain last year's form? Was last year an aberration? One thing is for sure, someone needs to step up and stay up. Bob was the flavor of the month, now it's Boucher. There are definitely more questions than answers, when it comes to their goaltending.

I'm certainly not on the doom and gloom train about Bob's but tonight was definitely a horrible time to put up that effort.

Boys, the Flyers have notoriously thrown in dud games vs. the Panthers. They are off until NY Eve and were looking past this game. Richards, Giroux, Carter, etc. all looked terrible as well but Bobrovsky is just going to get the blame.

The three headed monster is great for PHI. So much competition and the PHI goalies have been responding well to it. Add Leighton to the mix and now the pressure is really on. Boucher seems up to it, but as a rookie, Bob may not be. Bob is definitely the goalie of the future, but maybe not the goalie of right now.

I don't think it's a big deal, bad game on a night when the whole team was having a bad night. The kid's still having a ball being in the NHL, he's everybody's little brother, and he's got a permanant smile and "isn't this great, free peanuts" attitude, ...I don't think Leighton's presence has changed anything.

He has a nice break now to go out and enjoy his first Christmas in America, recharge himself mentally, work with Jeff Reese on whatever, and refocus himself for when play resumes.
