    Default Buy Low on Kovy?

Was thinking about making a buy low offer for Kovy as his owner is fed up.......I think he might be showing signs of turning it around. I am killing in the assist department, and sure could use some more SOG, G, PPP. If Kovy gets it together in the second half, he could be a steal. I realize this is still a reisky move though, so would love some input.

I've offered M.Koivu and Phanuef (I grabbed Gonchar of waivers and have an extra d-man), and he is mulling it over but thinking of accepting.

Am I overpaying, or am I getting good value?

    Any imput would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

It's risky. Any other year, Koivu and Phaneuf for Kovy wouldn't even be considered, but, as we all know, he's had a terrible year. If he keeps playing the way he is, I'd lean towards saying that you're over paying, but if he turns things around, you're golden.

It's a gamble. It all depends on your position within your league. If you're winning, you may want to play it safe but a hail mary might be a good move if you're trailing by a bit.

Good deal for you - maybe he wants Gonchar instead of Phaneuf - which would make it even better for you!
Kovy will turn it around eventually - he is too talented not to, while Koivu is good but very replaceable, and Phanuef is a bit overrated, at least in fantasy.

At first glance I hate this deal, but after looking at the scoring categories your league uses it's a little bit more attractive. This is really just me taking the long way of saying don't do it.

Koivu is going to get 70 points, that's money in the bank. Phaneuf will get his shots on goal, goals, assists, power play points soon too. Kovy is a mess, the entire Devils team is. Keep what you have, or look for another trade.

i agree with the previous post, since your league counts PPP not PPG, goals are less important. I will keep what you have as well even though I think kovy will turn it around

yea because you're over-stacked on D and worst case scenario Kovalchuk is a #7 forward for you out of 8 which even if he scored at 60 point pace would not kill you...def worth it, especially given your d situation and forward depth
