I still think Nash is one of the most overvalued players in the NHL. He's good, but he's far from great.
Nash's last 5 of his 7 seasons have looked like:
54 pts in 54 games (PPG hockey, pretty good!)
57pts in 75 games
69pts in 80 games
79pts in 78 games (first time in his career being OVER a PPG)
67pts in 76 games
Those are far from superstar stats to me... He's never even played 82 games in a season, yet I swear to god this guy is valued as a top 10 player by most people.
Obviously in this trade he was valued as a ... I dunno, top 250 player or something... But typically you'd see something like Alex Semin for Nash type deals. Semin for example, had the 6th highest pool points per game in my league format, Nash was 29th.
Not to say he won't ever break 80 points one day... Hitchcock is gone, all the excuses that "Nash Lovers" tend to make, yada yada... I just think this guy carries SO much more value than what he actually gives to your team. If I had him on my team I'd be using his inflated value to get me someone better.
