Just got OV- the offers are coming in from everyone!
About two hours ago I made a blockbuster trade sending Stamkos and getting Ovechkin. Now, as can be expected, everyone wants OV. I just got an offer:
OV and Giordano for
Any of the 3: Doughty, Thornton, Loui Eriksson, Alfredsson or Liles.
That would absolutely make my team sick. But, the ink has barely dried on getting Ovechkin... I need the insight of the Dobber boards to steer me in the right direction (Before you guys tell me: I know, OV is better then everyone!)

You just got him, use him for a bit also I wouldn't give him up unless i was getting 1 of the big 3 back or it was a crazy stupid offer.
Edit: (just noticed non keeper league) If your willing to still move him mke sure everyone in your league knows is up for grabs and take offers etc.. for 2 weeks then see.

those 3 to me doesnt do it for ovechkin. espcially beacause you have TOI stat. keep ovechkin. whats was the stamkos deal.. bc losing stamkos with FOW seems like it could have hurt alot..
but before you do any trades i would email your league and see if you can turn this league into a keeper league. ovech, sedins, kane, m.richards, bryz.. looks like one nice keeper set.

Yeah I wish it was a keeper!! But as league manager I can't ask the rule to be changed mid season or I'd be playing against myself in a empty league! I made some wise draft choices/waiver pickups and trades (mostly from the help of this board). It does suck to lose Stamkos, but I'm going to get great FOW's from Pavelski/M.Richards/Kesler plus the occasional waiver pick up.

Thornton Eriksson Doughty for Ovechkin would stack you more than just carrying AO Brower etc.. would...i'd do that but you'd have to distinguish whether ALffy or Doughty as the 3rd player would be of greater benefit...al that forward depth in a 16 team league would make an easy win for you
MT, I think Doughty would be the logical 3rd choice because the league counts TOI and essentially double counts power play points for goals and assists. I don't know why (being I rarely see him play) but I don't have much faith in Alfy, maybe it's his age...

And by the way... the guy offering this trade already has Backstrom and Semin so it's clear he wants the Capitals trio. But since it's not a roto league, and it's head to head, I would only have to worry about those 3 playing against my team gaining massive numbers once this season.

who is on the wire forwards-wise as I say that assuming their isn't much depth given 16 team and big rosters
you dont need to change the rule. maybe email them all and ask. if you have active managers alot might want to change it to a keeper. if you can get 90% of the league then the 1 or 2 teams that dont you could always replace them over the summer.Originally Posted by skotchek

You are right. The waiver wire is plucked dry, best options right now are: Bolland, Brunette, Bozak, Paajarvi, Hudler, Turris to name a few. All either slumping or currently useless.

If you take on all these extra players, who are you dropping from your current roster?
It is a 2 for 4 deal, so I assume you have to drop 2 players. Let's assume you drop Brouwer and McBain or Lupul. That would make sense to me. So, in that sense the deal looks like this:
OV >> Thornton
Girodano < Doughty
Brouwer < Eriksson
McBain or Lupul < Alfie
Seems like a good deal for you in a non-keeper.

Yes I would drop McBain (McBust) and probably Lupul. Brouwer has some value to me since he hits.
If I did put OV on the market so soon, I think it would be wise to announce it on the league message board to see who offers the most, although this would most likely be the best offer I get.

Honestly, I know others have recommended that you do that, but I think a move like that could backfire on you. To me, this is an obvious overpayment (in a one-year league) for OV. If the other person sees that you put OV on the block and others have (presumably) sent you offers, yet you later go back and want his original offer, he might then get cold feet and think if you haven't received any other offers better than his, perhaps he is overpaying. He might then try to change the offer to give you less.
If it were me, in a one-year league like this, you should just accept this offer while it is on the table. I seriously doubt you get anything better than this.
But I suppose you would be the best judge of that. Good luck.
