I am holding onto him simply due to his PP time and the fact that I cannot bring myself to spend $10 and use 1 of my 5 add drops for the season to pick up a replacement like Methot, Spacek or Girardi
Doulos - that is some strong HATE towards Gilbert. I really don't think he's that bad.

I think the Gilbert haters have some basis for their dissatisfaction.
I have watched a few Oilers games this year, and in each of them, Gilbert has been horrible. I can't believe this guy got over 40 pts. once - he just doesn't seem to have the tools. Perhaps we can attribute all of the assists (40) to playing with Souray (23 goals).
The situation this year is much different, now that they have two superior offensive D-men in Foster and Whitney.
I agree things are much different in Ed. this season but , without decent waiver options you have to hang tight. If he does begin to produce try to move him fast , that's my plan despite the fact he may produce well in the 2nd half.
Roto type keeper league.We keep any 6 ;15 teams , 3 div. of 5.We play 3 lines , 3 def. and start 2 goalies.6 BN.Stats are 1pt. for goals and assists , 2pts. for W , tie(O.T. or S.O. loss) 1pt. S.O. 1pt.Weekly line-up from Mon. to Sun. Total pts. per line against other teams lines.
LW - Ovechkin , Drouin ,Steen , Huberdeau
RW - Nash , Callahan , Nyquist
C - B. Schenn , Fisher , R.N.H. , St. Louis , T. Johnson
Def.- E. Johnson , Gologoski , Suter , Doughty , O.E.L.
G - Scheinder , Dubnyk , Lack
He's still getting a decent percent of the teams PP as they rotate Whitney, him, and Foster but if all are fresh, Foster and Whitney go on first. They split up him and Whitney though on even strength after they looked so well together at the end of last season which really hurt him as they created a lot of offense from the back end.
I've watched him closely too this season being an Oilers fan and am about ready to dump him. In a few days I will have 4 very strong D and might actually just drop Gilbert and pickup another forward to help with my scoring.

Oilers vs New York Rangers today was Exhibit A of why Gilbert is such garbage. Over and over and over again he makes mistakes. He refuses to play anything that remotely looks like a physical hockey games. He coughs up the puck, he misses his defensive assignments, and he shies away from contact resulting in goals against.
If Strudwick didn't play for the Oilers he would be the worst defenseman on the team by a mile.
F'n Tom Gilbert is -4 today in the 8(and counting)-2 game vs the Rangers
I have had enough. He's literally losing me points every game - pretty counterproductive if you ask me
I am listing the best available FA Dmen and placing a poll up top...Please place your vote on Gilbert's replacement.
I might as well have Chris Chelios on my roster.
EDIT: Duolos - looks like we are watching the same game and thinking the same thing.
Didn't see the whole game but saw his brutal giveaway to Frolov and then him standing still at the blue line allowing that long outlet pass to Gabby for his hat trick goal. I'm starting to think I should replace him too, especially now that I've picked up Seidenberg to cover the Blocked Shot area. Two years in a row now that I pick him in the early 2nd round only to have him screw me!!!!

I am done with him. The entire Oilers team looks AWFUL - easily the worst team in the league. Owning two of them just isn't smart for me - Hemsky can at least get points. I don't see how Gilbert is even getting the ice time he has been lately.
Tom Gilbert is -10 over his last 4 games.
That is like taking away 3 assists in my league!
I'm also giving up on him. Funny thing is I was actually thinking sbout benching him just so he wouldn't hurt my +/- anymore. I then realized that was a bit extreme but the fact that I was contemplating that made it clear that I should be dropping him.

If I could bench him, I WOULD haha
I am debating between Marc Methot (leader in the poll), Jaroslav Spacek or Roman Hamrlik
Who do you think will get the most points going forward (this year only)?
I am a little weary about Methot as he's always been known as a defensive dman.
I am leaning towards one of the habs especially with Markov likely missing some more time.
If you go with a Habs, you should take Hamrlik.
He will see much more PP than Spacek.
But, maybe they will bring back MA Bergeron... (wishful thinking!)
Keeper league (12 teams) - keep 6 (+ NHL team is auto keep)
Weekly lineup: 1T, 9F, 4D, 1G

Goalies: win (2), otl/sol (1), shutout (2)
Team: win (2), otl/sol (1)
Only 2 FA pickups for the season (remaining: 0)
[T] Edmonton
[F] Panarin, Pettersson, Bedard
[D] Heiskanen, Theodore, Dobson
[G]
Ugh, his +/- may have just cost me that category this week in my keeper league. We were tied and my opponent has NO skaters playing today. Between him and Horcoff I now have 5 points to make up in the rest of the games. Ugh.
I can't give up on Gilbert as the only decent D-men on my WW are Taormina and Methot. I don't really see myself dropping them for him although he's on thin ice now.
Without me, it's only "aweso".
