    Default +/- Strategy for a 1-year H2H League

16 team h2h league. Offensive cats: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG, FW

So it's only a few days in, but I'm already being dominated in the +/- column. Goals and Assists are very close, I'm dominating PIM, SOG and FW, and a few points back in PPP, so I definitely have a shot to win this week.

But the Ducks are getting killed on the +/- (Perry, Ryan, Visnovsky). As of writing I'm at -10 and he's at -2.

Any strategies here for the rest of the week and rest of the year? Should I just say screw +/- and focus on dominating all the other cats? I'm not going to make and drastic moves or changes, but I'm a fantasy hockey newb just looking for a bit of advice. Cheers boys. My team is in my sig.

in my experience +/- is hard to strategize/adjust for, especially for a single week.
basically you have to have players on good teams with large goal differential (strong offense & defense) like SJ, detroit, vancouver, washington, etc. so that strategy has to be incorporated into your drafting, b/c hard to make significant waiver pickups who will make a difference (unless you picked up Schulz last year)

just forget that stat. hardest to predict. i have getz and ryan and who would have thought they would have a combined -8 or something on the week.

in my h2h i built my team around strong stats. i went hard with goalies: lundqvist, brodeur, kipper, anderson.

then i drafted around nailing goals, SOG, PIM, PPP so i would hopefully have 4 goalies stats and 4 of the offense stats and just toss up the assists, +-, and SHP stats each week bc those are hard to nail down.

i took guys like: Kovy, ryan, downie, horton, carcillo, clarkson, marleau.. and then i went on to trade for E.staal, getz, datsyuk, hossa.. so you can see i was targeting certain stats.

like you said no drastic moves be strong in your other stats. and forget +- it changes each week.

I hear ya, thanks for the advice guys. I figured that was probably going to be the case.

I too drafted around SOG, PIM, PPP, goalies I went for Wins mainly. I figured the +/- would just figure itself out if I got good players, but I guess when guys get hot I'll have a better plus minus.
