    Default Keeper start-up Hall/Tavares

    Hey guys,

I am starting up a new keeper with 13 GMs. Points only.
Where do you pick Tavares and Hall.

I have them around 25 overall skater only. Which means top of 3rd round. Makes sense?

    21-Carter, Jeff
    22-Zetterberg, Henrik
    23-Nash, Rick
    24-Tavares, John
    25-Hall, Taylor
    26-St.Louis Martin
    27-Richards, Brad
    28-Hemsky, Ales

If forward positions don't matter - I'd move Tavares at least 4-5 spots higher than Hall, maybe #20. Hall is in a good spot, though I'd probably put him above Nash. (and off topic - I'm fond of MSL being tied to Stamkos a little closer and being higher too, near Tavares)

Doing inaugural drafts are always a lot of fun, because you have no idea yet what another person's preferences are. When we did our first draft a couple of years ago there were some young, fairly unproven studs went a lot higher than I expected. For example, Backstrom went around 25 even though he'd only had his rookie season.

Everyone has their preferences, but I'd say you have the right idea. I'd be willing to move guys like St. Louis down a few places from guys like Hall and Tavares. If nothing else, the young studs will have far higher trade value (if not real value), and you can pick up guys like St. Louis, Briere, etc, a little bit later in the draft.

    Good luck!

Looks good, like Pengwin said, no forward positions, I prefer Tavares. Higher upside, more skill.

Yeah, no position. Its a smoother league with family and friends. You think Tavares has more upside than Hall? I would say the opposite but he has 1 year under the belt.

Its just hard to pick Hall before Perry IMO.

    Thanks for the advice guys.

    Definitely Tavares over Hall.

Besides having the extra year under his belt - note that Tavares tried to get into the draft in Stamkos' year and would have been the #1 pick. (because of his birthday he missed the draft by 5 days... so he was already among the "older" guys in his draft class). He's already been forgotten a bit on that dreadful NYI team.

(It is interesting because Tavares is not currently on the "protect list" of his team in my keeper league... and if Malkin gets winger eligibility by our draft date I'm going to be licking my chops. But it kills me that half my pool's payout is a playoff league. I mean... I see no foreseeable future where the Isles make the playoffs... maybe once Brodeur retires.)
