I like this trade for you. You obviously want to strengthen your center position, and you are doing just that. Player by player....Guys like Hossa and spezza are difficult to guage who will be the better player. Too close to call in my mind. I like brown over Semin, but considering you also are getting Vanek I must say your wingers don\'t suffer that much in this trade.

This is a little bit of a difficult trade to guage as I can\'t see the other roster to determine what the other team is looking at. It would seem the other team needs some help in net and at defense. If this is true, looking at the fact that you get 4 forwards for his 2 is not an entirely accurate picture.

The guys coming to your team are good. I see there being a possibility though of future injuries to the players coming to you though. Semin\'s ankle woes are well documented, Spezza never seems to play a full season and was already out at the beginning of November, and Pitkinen just returned. Also, Vanek is having a down year and likely will not post number anywhere near where they were last year.

The fact that you would be trading away a player on IR is a bonus.

I think this really hurts your team at RW though. Afinogenov is having a down year and Cheechoo seems to be non-existant (plus he is hurt). Your depth suffers greatly by loosing Brown and Hossa at RW. RW are tough to find on the FA list.

In the end I see this as a fair trade, and perhaps even slightly towards the Spezza side, but in your situation, to me it leaves one position bare thin.
