Just remember that just adding muscle doesn't always mean more production (see Blake Wheeler beefing up for last season). He'll need to time to adjust his play to his new weight, might lose some speed in the process.

Not saying this is a bad thing at all, just don't get expectations too high.

I totally agree with this... I think a season of 35-40 would be considered a success or atleast a step in the right direction... anything more would just be gravyyy.

But I expect him to be a 10-15 goal scorer with 50pts and almost a PPG PIM once he gets his stride.

Wait till you see Renegade's! I find myself staring at it at least 2 hours a day.

And is it just me or when Burns bulked up an extra 20 lbs 2 seasons ago he struggled with his new body? I thought this was the case when young NHLers bulked up... might be wrong though. I know when I bulked up 15 lbs last summer it took me a while to get used to the game again, cardio wise, and also took me a while to readjust my stick handling and such after working out on my upper body all summer.

I'dm like to WATCH them train.

I had no idea he was hurt last year, it explains a dip in production.

Yeah, I'm not sure that his biggest issues last season were with not being large enough. Hopefully he's been hitting more than just the weight room otherwise this will slow him down and the added bulk could also impact his coordination. That could reduce his general puck control. Now I'm not too concerned as the kid is a stud but I'm just not gonna get all excited about him putting on the pounds. I think his biggest area of need is experience so with another year of that alone he should improve.

    totally true!

about the bulking up: this kid has Chelios to mentor him. i would be pretty damn surprised if CC hasn't been helping him along with the training. and there might only be 2 or 3 other guys (Roberts and Rod the Bod come to mind) who are at the same level Chelios is at when it comes to fitness and strength training.

I completely miffed on the Chelios factor. I'd be afraid to go into the gym with that dude. His body is just a well oiled machine.
