Interesting. Now i havent researched the blocked shots, hits,FO% to the full extent but I am a bit shocked to see guys like: doughty, keith, perry, kesler, niemi, howard drafted in the first round. im sure some fell in love with hypes.

on a lessor degree i am a bit shocked to see so many centers and not enough wingers being drafted. i would have thought maybe more goalies would have gone as well. rask, niemi probably not 1st rounders. probably would have liked to see rinne going someplace in there. but with one goalie there are still tons of talent the way it was drafted

shocked not seeing more wingers though but then again FO% might make the centers more appealing if that is face off % or wins or somethign like that. not sure.

I was surprised to see Niemi, Howard, and Duchene go in the first. But I've not had any experience w/ such a big league.

Curious as to why you see Bryzgalov as a surprise?

Kesler, Duchene, Howard, and Niemi and Bryz all seem a bit high. I know if I was drafting, there'd be no way Kesler or Niemi woudl be picked. Like wow, very high for a 70 point center. Bryz isn't even on that good of a team, wouldn't someone rather have someone like Nabokov or Kippy?

Why would anyone take a chance on Nabokov? He is old, a UFA that may bolt to the KHL, and will likely not be on the Sharks next year.

Kesler on the other hand isn't a bad choice. He hits, he wins faceoffs, he gets PIMs, and he will likely get you 70-80 points over the next few years, all at a decent cap hit.

with that number of teams you can have a 59 pick wait (or longer if you made a trade) so you need to grab the guy you want with the pick you have. Plus you can get screwed out of a starting goalie pretty easily so G move up on your list.

Bryzgalov last year was on the yotes and did might well. Dobber put him in his top 10 roto players to draft. Hes not that all, has a great cap hit at 4.25M.

Nabokov I dont want at all, too much uncertainty. Kipper is good but man does Calgary suck so no way hes taken ahead of Ilya.

The only other person I thought of grabbing was Kovalchuk, but with goalies going fast fleury or bryzgalov were my easy 2 choices and well went for ilya. I think Phoenix can get better especially if Goncharov plays this year and they go sign a top 6 forward.

Its a Salary cap league, so that has weighed into a lot of decisions. Goalies are starting to go now with them being 1/3 of the categories. Hits, blocked shots, pm's, and f/o % make it a little more interesting, that is why Kesler is a good pick, not 1 dimensional.

It's just an opinion.. Uncertainty around the Coyotes worries me and not sure how the team will do this year as compared to last. I also don't know the Goalie scoring cats. He was one of the best last year though for sure.

Wow with those stats... I thought for sure that Pronger would be a first round pick especially on the lower end. Hits, PIMs, PPP, Blocked Shots, +/- = Golden

lol, yeah I dropped the league's first round. It's a great fodder read for anyone interested in big league drafts. Especially with the talent in our league.

Dobber regulars, you will be sure that I'll post every round as it gets drafted!
