Default Is Evander Kane a good consolation prize?

Can't get Hall or Seguin this off-season but Evander Kane should be available when I draft. Is he the same type of talent? And if so, will he breakout sooner than Hall or Seguin?

Wonderful consolation prize - taken 4th overall (3rd forward behind Tavares and Duchene) in a deep draft with lots of top end talent - 80 ish upside with lots of PIM's if your league rewards those. He likely won't break out sooner than Hall or Seguin - power forwards tend to take a little longer in the incubator. Should be a top line forward in due time.

Yeah, Kane should be a great "consolation" prize. Shoeless is bang on here. Kane has all the tools and should develop into a great power forward. I've been trying to buy low in a couple of my leagues, but nobody seems to be biting.

What do you see his production like next year in pts and pims?

He is sitting in the FA pool in my league. Could be a diamond

Well, strictly a guess here, but if he continues to develop and doesn't hit the typical sophomore wall, he could hit 40 points and maybe 80+ PIMs. He's the kind of guy you want to sit on and watch develop. If you can sit him on your farm, then fine. If not, as a 4th line LW option, his production shouldn't be too shabby.

I would call it the same way. If you can bring him on and afford to let him develop then he is a real scoop. If you are limited in keepers and no farm that he is eligible for then he probably isn't a great deal in the short term.

I really like Evander Kane. If he is the kid you get at 4, you should be quite happy. I agree with the fellas, it will take him a little longer to bring it, but he will.

I think he somewhere in between an Iginla-lite and a Wayne Simmonds-very pro. Yup, I had to use black examples.

LOL - took me a bit to catch the reference. Actually I was wondering about a comparison to Penner.
