    personally I'd prefer to own the eriksson/weber combo than ilya/bieksa

    seems to be a fair enough trade though

    I think you made a great deal! Weber is very good, but Kovie, as we have seen on the dynasty LW list is the dynasty #2 LW! If he goes to LA, he will explode!

    didn't you hear the news? kovy just signed a fat contract with a khl team!...............yea i'm kidding haha. are there positions in your league? how is the scoring set up? its always good to get the best player, but weber's value could increase a lot since he is a goal scoring dman

    Kovalchuk 41 goals, 44 assist = 85 pts
    Bieksa 3 goals, 19 assists = 25 pts
    Total = 110 pts

    Ericsson 29 goals 42 assists = 71 pts
    Weber 16 goals 27 assists = 59 pts
    Total = 130 pts

    in your format, I take the weber side any day of the week. Especially considering weber wasn't exactly crazy this year. He could do MUCH better.

    Dutch why do you have to spoil the excitement for this GM by pointing out the cold hard truth?

    Bieksa also missed a ton of time with yet another freak injury and Kovy missed time as well....i dont think the deal is that bad but would maybe lean to the weber side just because he can hit 20 goals on a regular basis...if Kovy lands in a good spot he'll hit 50-60 himself though so fairly close i.m.o.
    God bless us,everyone of us!

    Pretty even deal. Like the others, I also prefer the Weber side of the deal because he's one of the very few D who could realistically hit 20 goals on a regular basis. But not that one-sided.

    I think it is a wash, no postional requirments is not a big deal, but I do give the Weber side a slight edge, probably 2-5%
    Good Luck, I hope he signs in North America, and doesn't get hurt

    I have to disagree with those who put down the deal based on Bieksa and "combined points". Any league has limited spots and you want the best guys at each position. Kovalchuk is the best asset in this trade and the 2nd best LW in the world. It's far easier to acquire an upgrade on Bieksa in the future than it is to acquire a mega star.

    The loss in "depth" can be fixed in future trades.

    from a mathematical standpoint that statement doesn't make sense eric.

    weber should be able to get to 60 pts in the next year or 2

    20 goals 40 assists seems achievable. Based on that, he would total 80 pts.

    Kovalchuk I think is what he is, around 85 - 90 pt player.

    To me in this trade, weber, the d with goalscoring ability is the gem of the trade...

    I'd say the odds of Weber breaking 60 are just as good as the odds of Kovalchuk breaking 55 goals and 105 points.

    But we can agree to disagree. You did well on your end backing Weber as the gem of the trade. Interesting nonetheless.

    thanks for all the replies!
    In fact, the trade was just Kovalchuk for Eriksson and Weber, and I could keep either Bieksa or Stralman in my keepers... with Visnovsky, EJ and EK, I had the feeling that I had enough depht in defense to acquire Kovalchuk... Like EricDaoust wrote, the chance off Weber doing 80 points (20g-40a) are as good of Kovalchuk doing 100-110points... and I'm happy with the trade! If Kovalchuk could sign with LA, that would be nice!!
