I can't really find much about his comeback. He is out 4 weeks (although I think most were hoping it would be less) and it has been 2 weeks already. From initial reports, his injury still allowed him to workout, so it shouldnt take him much time to game-ready when he is healed. I think Atlanta just wants to make sure he is fully healed before he returns to action.

Best case scenario, I would guess a week.
    Worst case, two weeks.

Kovalchuk got hurt Oct. 25th. 4-6 weeks is the expected healing time. Even assuming it's on the short end of that I think 2-3 more weeks is more realistic.

1 week - touched by the hand of God miraculous healing
    2 weeks - optimistic prognosis...not impossible
    3 weeks - reality sucks
4 weeks - worst case scenario

Where did you hear 4-6 weeks when all reports say 3-5 weeks? TSN still has him as 3-5 weeks and the Thrashers web page havent said any different.

The article posted by 'iamblurb' from the Thrashers web-site specifically says that the diagnosis was 4-6 weeks.

    D. Sedin - broken foot expected out 4-6 weeks
    M. Savard - broken foot expected out 4-6 weeks

Frankly the list goes on for wrists, arms and ankles. If it's broken 4-6 weeks is the NORMAL timetable. When TSN chooses to write 3-5 weeks I just assume that's 4-5 weeks.

Don't get me wrong I'm thrilled with this news and hoping that the miraculous does indeed take place. Heaven knows with Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Neal, Huselius, Dubinsky, Gonchar, Markov, Jovanovski, and now Letang out my roster is in dire need of something other than pessimism.

Sorry if I seemed fatalistic...this year has made me so.

But... by definition, a fracture IS a break.

Anderson says he's 95% sure Kovy will play Thursday. Only issue will if there's a setback at practice tomorrow or thurs morning.

    At this point probably Avery...

I just read this on yahoo, looks promising:
Kovalchuk (foot) was practicing on Tuesday and looked good on the ice, Ben Wright of the Blueland Blog reports.

Recommendation: According to Wright, Kovalchuk doesn't even look like he's missed any time with the injury. Given that he's already practicing again, he may get back a little bit sooner than the initially predicted four-week timetable.

yup, i won't drop him until he plays a game. lets just hope he doesn't get a hatty that game.

i'm throwing around some 2 for 1 trades right now, but i've got no bites.
