Jagr vs. Hemsky + Backstrom (WAS) + Bryzgalov

Hi guys,

Keeper league, 2nd year (total of 5 years), and already in reconstruction phase.

This is my line-up:

Ovechkin, Alexander
Jagr, Jaromir
Stastny, Paul
Staal, Jordan
Radulov, Alexander
Kane, Patrick

Bouwmeester, Jay
Campbell, Brian
Mara, Paul

Khabibulin, Nikolai
Bernier, Jonathan

Price, Carey
Carter, Jeff
O\'Sullivan, Patrick
Wellwood, Kyle
Martin, Paul

I want to trade away Jagr because he doesn\'t fit in my future plans (too old) and have a certain hype because of the revamped Rangers.

I have had two offers that I considered seriously, please advice me on which one should I take and why. It\'s an important decision for my team in the future, and I need external point of view.

1) Jagr + 2nd round pick vs. Backström (WAS)+ Hemsky + Bryzgalov + 3rd round pick;

2) Jagr vs. Lehtonen + Pitkanen + 1rst round pick.

Isn\'t it difficult to choose?

In my opinion, the first one is best.
Here\'s how I see it.
Backstrom, by next year should help you fantasy wise.
Hemsky.. he just needs a sniper to play with.. but still has great upside.
You could wait for Bryzgalov to be traded for his stock to go up... then you could trade Brygz to get yourself a quality d-man. Cuz that\'s the weakness of your team.

You all seem to think that investing in Hemsky seems like a safe bet. I agree that he has large talents. But Oilers haven\'t shown signs of life so far and I feel like Kevin Lowe is not a guy able to attract and keep high talented guys.

This is mainly why I didn\'t go with the first offer straight away. Only because of Hemsky.

Lehtonen & Pitkanen are both young but are already showing signs they are injury prone.
The first pick will help you for sure.

However, the key to the 1st trade is Backstrom.
This guy has a great upside and will eventually play with Ovechkin.. that\'s golden.
If you\'re rebuilding, I would even do Jagr for Backstrom.. having Hemsky & Bryzgalov is icing on the cake.
If you don\'t want to keep them, you can move them to solidify your D.

You have Price & Bernier.. you\'re set in net for the futur.

I would not even hesitate.. just take the first deal, before he realizes how much he is giving up.

Thanks guys for your opinions. I finally accepted to deal with the Hemsky side (aka the Dark side).

Negociations followed when the g.m. saw my raised interest in the deal.

Finally, this is how the deal was concluded:

Jagr + 1rst round pick

VS.

Hemsky + Backstrom (WAS) + Bryzgalov + 3rd round pick

I actually lost that 1rst round pick of mine, but I\'m confident I can trade Bryz for a decent pick once he\'s traded away from ANA.
