John Tavares 29 Goals
Steve Stamkos 32 Goals
As started from an earlier thread, a competition is born.
It's simple.
All you do, is guess how many goals John Tavares and Steve Stamkos will score this season.
The person who is closest to being right wins.
Everyone else who enters the competition will put in their signature for the ENTIRE 2010 off-season "_________" was right about Tavares/Stamkos. I wasn't.
For anyone who wants in, you have until the start of the regular season to enter/modify your predictions. Once the first game is started, all picks are locked.
Good luck!

This year:
Stamkos - 29G 35A 64 P
Tavares - 27G 24A 51 P
In 3 years:
Stamkos - 39G 49A 88P
Tavares - 46G 40A 86P
Can't believe this is even a question. Tavares is elite. No, he's not Ovechkin or Crosby, but he is in a tier above Kane and Stamkos.
And I'm not saying this from the stats, or from his team canada performance, I've seen him play live a hundred times. Oshawa is just down the road. I've seen Stamkos live and Kane live. I've been the biggest critic of JT, but I've never denied his pure talent. He is special.
And yes, his team sucks. But Ovechkin on that team would still have had 100 points as a rookie. Now, I know JT is no Ovechkin, which is why I didn't predict him for 100 points. But if you think he'll only get 50 or even 60 points this season then you truly are smoking crack...or catnip...or some substance that's clouding your mind. Tavares on a horrible team will still flirt with 70 points. If you are conservative about this, you will pay dearly. I know a lot of people in Crosby's rookie year were predicting 60 or 65 points. Even I only gave him 68. But look how dumb we looked. He got like 103 or something like that.
I'm pleading with you, my readers. Believe me on this one. Temper your expectations on his upside, but not his early impact. He can do what Kane did. He was nearly Kane's equal when I saw them play against one antoher on a couple of occasions two years ago - and JT was only 16!
Rant over! I leave it to you!

Taveres 35 goals (probably 20 plus on the PP if Bailey feeds him)
Taveres is going to be a fantasy stud but Stamkos might just turn out to be the better overall player. Kinda like a Brett Hull to Steve Yzerman comp

Tavares 41
Stamkos 36
Tavares will get alot more time than Stamkos did last year, worst line mates but he is too much of a finisher not to crack 40 with the amount of time he gets. Stamkos will be a better NHLer, less time in front of the net makes for a longer career ala Sakic versus Lindros... Stamkos improves on last years numbers with extra minutes and better line mates.
