$4 million seems generous following his playoff performance  I would be surprised if he doesn\'t walk.
Here\'s the story from the Detroit Free Press:

Kinda laughable really. I hate Hossa, but he\'s no $4 mill a year player. If Hossa actually does sign for $4million/yr then that\'ll confirm that Holland drugs his players before putting a contract in front of them.

Key word being cap-hit of 4 million, that I assume would not be his salary. They could do something similar to Zetterbergs deal were they signed him to a 12 year deal instead of 10 with the final 2 years at a million bucks a pop, lowering the cap hit for the entire length of the contract but still paying Zetterberg his worth. Maybe they sign Hossa to a deal were he makes 5.5 for 10 years then tack on 3 years at league min to reduce the cap hit closer to 4 million.
I wonder how much long term contract and dollars will weigh in his decision this time compared to another shot at winning the cup.
What teams head the list if he wants a healthy mix of maximum dollars and the chance to be on a winner?
Carolina seems to have some cap space. The Hawks look like they could afford a short term CTR.
Funniest would be if Hoss ended up in a Caps uniform (doubtful, but it would be funny)
About time something real came out of the whole Hossa deal. Red Wings would be ******ed to re-sign him if you ask me. They players they already have in the system that have proven themselves are such a better fit. Keep Hudler and Samuelsson and bring up Leino. Or lose Samuelsson and bring up Leino. Then keep doing what you\'ve been doing for years which is draft and produce incredible talent. They don\'t need another superstar. They\'ve got Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Oh and Lidstrom. Oh and Rafalski. Then there is Kronwall in the making, and Ericsson, and Hudler, and Leino. Stupid Hossa.

I don\'t like Hossa much myself, the cap hit is the key value. It\'s not that I don\'t like him as a hockey player, I don\'t like that he gets such high praise. There are many players that have passed him by.

Everyone may dislike Hossa but you can\'t take away that he is a VERY VERY good player.
Sure he had a bad Final but who on the Wings had a great Final series. They won 3-1, 3-1 and 5-0. the games they lost they didn\'t do very much. Is this all Hossa\'s fault?
If someone can sign him for $4m, they will be laughing big time because that\'s a steal for one of the better players in the league. He has been doing well for years, he is not a flash in the pan.
