1st overall + for Thornton +

A guy in my keeper league approached me and said he was interested in offering me Jumbo for my 1st overall pick in the entry draft. Since we are in a salary cap league, I would need to send salary back his way to make sure I stay under the cap. That being said, the deal would look like this

I get : Thornton + ???

He gets : 1st overall + Marleau + McCabe

Here\'s a list of the players that I\'m interested in on his team

Stastny
Kessel
Mueller
Voracek
Gagner
1st Round Pick (8th overall)

Which if any of these guys should I be making a push for? Is the deal even worth looking into? The team is the team in my sig. Thanks for any and all help. I appreciate it

I would change marleau for peverley, and try to grab voracek in return...voracek\'s better than the 8th pick...its a lowball offer but a starting point to see what he says

i would think peverley\'s salary is not large enough to make the cap room. i would do the original and ask for voracek and gagner.

I would like this deal for you with Kessel as the second guy coming your way. However, in a salary cap league (and with the pay raise he\'ll be getting this summer), that probably wouldn\'t work out for you.

I might consider doing the deal with Voracek + his 1st rounder, but wouldn\'t feel entirely comfortable.

I might have my salaries missing by a bit, but that\'s a little over $70M.

This trade is very tricky. Thornton can justify his large contract $7.2M. I like to make these investments in SAFE commodities on the wing or in net.

For sure if you pull the trigger, be certain to get at least two young guys that you love and that will give you a couple of years of low salary. It\'s pretty tricky stuff pulling these monster deals. I avoid it, generally speaking. One guy I\'m familiar with, makes these moves constantly and makes out like a bandit.

Tavares could become a top 5 in Fantasy with CAP, should he break out with a 70 point season. 200+ points on his rookie contract.

McCabe is overrated in cap leagues. Marleau is very high risk on those large dollars. Should be getting upwards of 100 points annually to justify himself. Be very selective as to who you want on your team, or you run the risk of having your cap control you, rather than you controlling the cap.
