Benching 155 15+ times is pretty impressive for a 17 year old.

Sometimes teams target weaker players, as they have more room to grow and develop compared to those already in top shape.

I think I could do 155 times once if I really rested up beforehand.

How does Schroeder keep moving down in scouting reports, did he not prove himself at the world juniors? Sure he had a rough 2nd half of the season with the Gophers but he\'s about the youngest player in the country. If he falls outside of the top 5 (which he probably will) he\'ll be a steal.

Another guy who\'s stock keeps rising but for some reason in mock drafts I see he is falling out of the 1st round is Nick Leddy. I watched this guy play in the Minnesota State tournament this year and he\'s amazing. Not only is he a great skater with a lot of offensive upside his hockey IQ is off the charts for his age he\'s always in the right position and I never saw him even come close to ever getting beat. A definite darkhorse him my book.

Not really. Thats basically 2 45\'s, 2 10\'s and the bar. Thats bare minimum.

However, they should really be testing the back, shoulders, legs more than the chest. I dont consider chest strength critical to on-ice performance. You dont see too many bulging biceps in hockey players either (for good reason). Those vertical jumps are a joke as well. This isnt basketball.

Vertical jumps are used to show the explosiveness in the lower body of prospects I think.

Hey - not sure where you guys are getting 155lbs from - my understanding is the test weight is 150lbs. Maybe its a bar difference or something? If anyone is curious, the average number of reps was 10.7 (last year was 10.0). Here are the top players at that station:

Musculoskeletal: Bench Press (# of 150lbs reps)

    18 JORDAN SZWARZ SAGINAW (OHL)
    18 RYAN O\'REILLY ERIE (OHL)
18 CARL KLINGBERG FROLUNDA JR. (SWE-JR.)
17 JORDAN SCHROEDER U OF MINNESOTA (WCHA)
17 KYLE PALMIERI USA U-18 (USDP)
    16 EVANDER KANE VANCOUVER (WHL)
    16 TAYLOR DOHERTY KINGSTON (OHL)
    16 ZACK KASSIAN PETERBOROUGH (OHL)
16 KENNY RYAN USA U-18 (USDP)
    16 DMITRI ORLOV NOVOKUZNETSK (RUSSIA)
    16 JORDAN CARON RIMOUSKI (QMJHL)
16 ZACH BUDISH EDINA HIGH (HIGH-MN)

The top performers from all the stations can be found at http://centralscouting.nhl.com/link3...mp;app=combine

On a somewhat related note, I was impressed by Kane\'s strength numbers. I doubted he would make the NHL next year but now I am not so sure. He still has some work to do, but with a good summer bulking up who knows?
