2010 Breakout Player of the Year: Billy G???

Grabbed ole Billy G off the scrap heap and now think he may be in for quite a year next season, if he re-signs in Pitt.

On HNIC tonight, it was reported that Pittsburg wants him back next season, and I am sure that he would want to re-sign as well.

Playing a full season with Crosby and Kunitz? Both are set up men - no reason Billy G doesn\'t pot at least 30+.

Could be one of those players that push a team over the top, ala the guy who grabbed Loui Erikkson and won the title this year.

It could happen with the new coaching system Blysma has brought to the Pens. Guerin seems to fit well with the team.

I would say 20-25 goals and 50-55 points is a safer bet. Anything over that is a bonus.

I like Crosby a little more than Gomez, but I see your point.

Pretty much has been a ppg player and seems like a natural finisher to Crosby\'s set ups. I think he would do well if he played the entire season with Syd. No reason why he wouldn\'t, depending on who else they sign.

Definitely worth a waiver grab, IMO

Zherdev and Guerin have nothing to do with each other in the slightest. And if they did, I think Crosby is a bit better than Gomez...

Y\'know, I was thinking this earlier this week. Sykora/ Satan/ Fedotenko are all UFA\'s this year, so Pitts will have the cap space and roster room to fit him in. If he does sign with the Pens, I don\'t think 60 points is unreasonable. The suggestion that he\'ll be the 09/10 breakout player of the year is debatable, but good job bringing him to our attention.

the logic is, doesn\'t matter who you play with, there is only so much you can score.

guerin played 17 games with crosby, and scored 5 GOALS. 17 with the best playmaker in the world and he scores 5. prorate that over 82 games and you get 24 goals. add in another year of aging for mr.guerin and you\'ll see my point. i dont mind if the pens sign guerin again for cheap, but i hope people arent expecting some monster season for him just because he\'s on crosby\'s line and start drafting him much earlier than he should be.

fedotenko plays a full season with malkin and nets 16 in 65. (20 prorated full season). i agree with the above predictions, 20-25 goals max, 50-55 pts.

A 30/30 season would be the max I would project for Guerin, although he is getting older and everyone hits a point where they\'re just not the same anymore. Not saying he\'s going to go in a rapid production decline, but it\'s something to keep in mind.

He had 12 pts in 17 games with the Pens, and that scales up to just under 60 in 82 games. He\'s pretty durable so this is a realistic scenario. My own logic would put him closer to 50.

Thought the tongue and cheek title was pretty obvious, but I would be very comfortable in betting that he will score 30 goals if he plays the entire season with the kid.
