I landed Huet for cheap and now think it may payoff big time.

Chicago has said that they won\'t issue Khabibulin a contract so it is Huet\'s team next year. Chicago will likely be a powerhouse for the next few season\'s and Huet should get the lion\'s share of stars.

    Sweet....

I dunno it might be contract tactics from the Chicago front office to see if they can talk Khabi down... Until I see Khabi signing on the dotted line with another team, and Huet in training camp with no major competition for his job I wouldn\'t celebrate just yet...

Remember Khabi was in the same situation last season, until boom July 1st came around and they signed Huet to a $6 mill/year contract...

I can\'t see Chicago re-signing Khabibulin to another contract, as they have Huet signed for the next three years at something like $4.5 million/year. It\'s not as high as $6 million for Huet.

The Hawks know they are going to have some cap trouble over the next few years, and I\'m pretty sure the last thing they want to do is sign another goalie to big money. I\'m guessing they\'ll give Huet the reigns for the next 2-3 years, while letting Neimi and Crawford duke it out for the back-up duties.

I can\'t see the Hawks signing Khabi either. I would think a 36yr old would be looking at a 2-3 year deal even if its only 3-4 million.

With the exception to Havlat..Dave Bolland, Ben Eager, Cam Barker, Kris Versteeg are all in for raises this year. Don\'t forget Toews, Kane and Keith will be signed to spendy extensions next year as well which would make any commitments impossible with $10 million invested in goalies.

Yeah for sure it\'s unlikely that Khabi re-signs I\'m just saying crazier things have happened in the past, and until Khabi is gone to another team there\'s always a chance he comes back... maybe only for a year at a discount, who knows?

i\'m still not sure that huet will be the starter many discussion around the net tell that chicago may sigh khabi and possibility of trading campbell because of is big contract with the emergence of the defense at chicago...and i\'m still not sure because quenneville and huet is not a good match...

I can see Chicago moving Campbell and letting Khabi walk.

Yes they did and also said they figured Huet would be traded if they could find someone to take his contract. Interesting dilemma for Huet & Khabi owners.

Who\'s gonna want Campbell\'s contract though? I didn\'t understand that signing with the great young D Chicago already had.

Don\'t get me wrong, I think that Chicago would choose Khabby over Huet in a heartbeat, but it would take either Khabby to take a big time discount (which he won\'t given this may be his last contract) or Chicago shipping Huet (which won\'t happen - why would anyone take that contact when they could land Kabby or Biron cheaper?)

Funy how one game can make a difference - I think Huet bought himself the right to take over the reigns with his performance in the last game. If he repeated his game 4 performance, this would be a much different conversation. Now, though, all signs point to Huet and Crawford next year and Khabibulin signing a fatty somewhere else.

    Here\'s hopin!
