We had our draft early b/c we had too, i drafted Huet. Will he start? What is up with Carey Price? Is Bernier for real in LA? Will he start?

Huet and Labarbera would be good guesses - Huet absolutely I think - LA is still sorting things. Go talk to Justin in \"School of Block\" he is the goalie guru.

Great, I drafted Huet cheap, no one wanted him. We do an auction and I got him for $3. I couldn\'t believe I got him that cheap. I figured he\'d be the starter. Thanks.

    I would say:

Montreal:Huet and Price. With Halak waiting..

LA:Labarbera and Aubin. With Bernier playing in the AHL or junior..

I think it will be Y.Danis as b-up to Huet...thats what the early rumble is. Of course that could change in a week or two.:P

As for LA... some guy off the nearest streetcorner will prolly start. They do not have a #1 goalie there they have a collection of B-ups and depth players.
This is another example of GM\'s stealing their paychex..how do you let this happen to your team?
#1 tenet of hockey \"build from the freakin net out\" how simple is that?
It is key that you have top goalie prospects developing/stocked within your organization at all times. Bernier will not be NHL ready for 2.. prolly 3 yrs. earliest. Meanwhile you suffer thru 1-B goaltending.. loosing games that would have been W\'s with a decent tender! Or you swallow a Gerber.. contract and all.. meanwhile crossing your fingers he can hold it together for a couple of seasons.
OK ..rants finished back to my cage.

regardless of the goalie situation, i think the gm in la has quietly put together the makings of a contender over the last few years - the team is brimming with young talent.

Actually the present Gm seems to be doing a fine job trying to rite his ship.
Witness his theft of Jack Johnson!
Yes they have some real nice talent and if you note I was \"only\" critical of the tender positions lack of depth/quality. Outside of Bernier that is.
The present GM bears no responsibility for the dearth of tending in the Org.

I doubt that Price improves as a hockey player playing backup in montreal. He will play fulltime in the AHL.

LA and goalies... traditionally not a good combination. Gee wasn\'t huet just in LA and Garon just in MTL before spending time in LA and then moving on to the OIL ?

I think they give the rangers farmhand Hanna-Labarbera a shot
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

FYI the present GM was partly responsible for the growth of the Sharkies... then again san jose was so terrible that those top 5 picks started to add up. But they didn\'t waste the picks.

anyway the Kings appear to be in good hands

You would think with the talent that LA has assembled they would make a big push for a legitimate number 1 goaltender as that guy could turn this team into a legitimate threat in the West.

Now, the question is who could they get and what would it cost?? Would Colorado even consider dealing Theodore -- I doubt it, especially to a club that they are likely to be battling it out with for a playoff spot -- but who knows. Would Detroit even consider dealing Jimmy Howard, a guy who could probably handle a number one job now in the NHL, with Hasek going to hang it up soon and Osgood no spring chicken?? How about Martin Gerber from the Sens?? You would think not with Emery\'s health issues, etc but if the offer was significant enough, who knows. Finally, What about Andrew Raycroft?? If the Leafs want Toskala to take the job and run with it, and if they have lost confidence in Raycroft and feel that Clemmensen can get the job done as the backup, could LA make a deal for the former Bruin??

I think Huet is the guy in Montreal...period. The LA job is much more intriguing to me and I suspect that they will make a deal at some point to get themselves another netminder.
