    Default Trade Advice?

Hey everyone, just looking for some advice/opions on an offer a fellow \"GM\" sent my way.
    I\'d be giving up:
Peter Mueller and my 1st (14th overall)
    for
    Scott Gomez and a 3rd (29th overall)
We carry a 23 man roster but can only protect 15 at years end. The 8 players you drop go into the draft.
I would like to compete for the top prize this year. My team is as follows. (Still have 8 rounds of drafting, but these were my 15 protected players)
    Frolov
    Havlat
    Jokinen, O.
    Kovalchuk
    Zherdev
    Mueller
    Carter, J.
    Roy, D.
    Redden
    Kronwall
    Liles
    Phaneuf
    Pitkanen
    Letang
    Luongo
    14 Team Keeper: 23 Man Roster (max)- 9F, 6D, 1G Dressed. Bi-Weekly Roster Changes. 15 Protected.
    Points- F:1G, 1A. D:2G, 1A. G:2W, 1OTL, 3SO
    15 Protects:
F-Kovalchuk, Zherdev, Frolov, J.Carter, Jokinen, Havlat, Gomez, Roy
D-Redden, Phaneuf, Pitkanen, Letang, Kronwall, J.M. Liles
    G-Luongo

    Welcome JBo!

You haven\'t mentioned if you have positional requirements or anything about your scoring.

If you consider Dobber\'s opinion in the Guide, Gomez is predicted to have 83 points and Mueller is predicted to have 53. Long term Mueller is predicted to have a slightly higher upside but you will be waiting years for that to happen. At the present time, Gomez wins over Mueller.

You then have to consider what you are giving up with the 14th pick. You mentioned what you protected but there is no mention of what might be available.

If I had to make the decision between Mueller and Gomez and considered that I didn\'t stand to lose much by moving down in the draft, I would jump at this deal. Take Gomez. There must be something that the other GM likes in the draft and he wants your pick.

    My thoughts.

Again, welcome. You will love this site.

I\'d do it. As mentioned, it\'ll be awhile before Mueller is outproducing Gomez, and Phoenix will also have to suck less as a team. Pull the trigger and ride Gomez for awhile, he\'s still got time ahead of him. Future Phoenix talent or Jagr/Shanny\'s center? Take Gomez and run.
