Default Dynasty H2H 2024 entry draft

    H2H Dynasty league, 14 teams
Cats are G, A, Pts, +/-, Pim, PPP, SOG, FW, Hit, Blk for skaters.
    Full lineup with 4 C, 4 LW, 4 RW, 6 D, 2 G and 20 minors spots.

Got 3 of the next 5 picks and already got Celebrini as I’m rebuilding.

    Who would you target:

    Parekh
    Levshunov
    Catton
    Eiserman
    Iginla
    Helenius
    Buium

I don’t mind the risk here so I’m looking at high ceiling potential.
    Thanks for your help!

Parekh, Buium, and Catton probably the highest ceilings in my opinion but there is some risk with Parekh and Catton

    1. Levshunov. He's going to go either 2(CHI), 3(ANA), or 4(CBJ). All signs suggest he'll be the real deal. He's a lock for me as your top option if he goes to Chicago (as he'll be the RHD on pairing 1 with Korchinski for many years, probably on PP1 too.)
    ...
    2. Buium. I have more faith that Buium makes it at NHL level than I do with the OHL-stat-heavy Parekh. Buium is (supposedly) incredibly high hockey-IQ. I can't say I've watched him enough yet to put "my stamp" on that... but I absolutely LOVE and use hockeyIQ as a tie-break or BETTER when I pick my prospects. Some mocks have him going to Arizona/Utah at 6... if he does, don't pass -he'll hit as PP1... and it'll be local transition from DenverU - which'll be fun.
    ...
    3. Iginla - if he goes to Calgary. He's solid. I don't think he'll be a bust - and he'll have a lot of pro-guidance on getting things right. Pedigree/family is real.

I have some iffyness on the forwards (Catton, Helenius, Eiserman - in that order, I'd rank them).
    Parekh is a boom-or-bust guy... but I don't think he's going to be a Hit/BLK type D-man. Points-only, I might put him #2... but not in multi-cat.

Only switch-up is that if somebody actually drafts Helenius before Iginla... I might consider that.
I'm also quite interested in Helenius if he ends up with PHI... because the upside there with an up-for-grabs C1 spot beside Michkov is pretty attractive.

I want no part of ANY player drafted at 11 to Buffalo.
They're too loaded with kids and that player is going to be in the AHL until they're probably 22.
(Though - I shouldn't say that... Benson bucked that last year... and did just fine full-time.)

    Those are my three.

Would Iginla to Montreal change your opinion of him? Think they might draft him.

If a top8 team takes Iginla - all the better.
I put a lot of stock in where a team takes a player.

2022, I had a #1 pick in a league, thought I was going Shane Wright.
When MON took Slaf - I said "Nope, I'm not smarter than the scouts" and switched to Slaf.
    Happy I did that.

If some NHL team really likes a player - and it feels right - take that guy.

(Then again - sometimes there's a Jay O'Brien or a Tyler Boucher... and you just gotta know to pass if they weren't on anybody's radar. Iginla is on everybody's top15 board... so I'd be taking him unless he slips past Calgary - which would be quite a tell - a bad sign.)

You think Catton have more potential than Iginla in a multicat league?

Could draft both, really like Iginla though.

The thing is, this year's crop of draft eligible players is a bit different than many other years. This year, Celebrini is the clear number 1 pick. But then, after that, it is all over the map as NHL scouts are about as far as you can get from a consensus of who goes in what order in the top 10, maybe even top 15. While there are always varying opinions most years there is typically a consensus that defines the potential draft order. Not so much this year. If the pro scouts are that "all over the map" fantasy hockey GM's are really throwing darts (:
