This is great news for Mason owners, in my opinion.

I couldn\'t care less if they use the \"back spasm\" excuse, this decision was made for one and only one reason, and that is to keep Mason as fresh as possible for the Blue Jackets run to make the playoffs. Doesn\'t matter if the young stars game is only 20 mihutes long, it\'s the entire thing that takes the focus away from the season, and I\'m sure Mason agreed entirely with the decision of management to keep him away from that distraction and instead to have him truly \"rest\" during the break, and be fresh for the next crucial month or two of games. Dubi will now be available to spell him from time to time, but management knows that they will only make the playoffs if Mason maintains his current form, and that means getting him this important break.

Given what I know about Mason and his focussed approach to his career and winning, I\'m sure he couldn\'t care less about missing the young stars game, and agrees entirely with using the time off to rest and to focus in practice on parts of his game that need work. He\'s a winner and knows that is much more important than a little time in the limelight of Montreal during All Star week (and i\'m sure he\'s also smart enough to realize that he\'ll get his chance to go to an allstar game in the near future).

So I think Mason owners should be happy at this news.

As a Mason owner, im ecstatic that he\'s not gonna risk further injury for this meaningless thing. People care the least about the young stars game out of the whole weekend. Why add to an already tender back?

Maybe this back situation explains his dip in play over the past few games.

Rinne is a good choice too.
