While I missed getting a few of mytargets I'm still happy with the balance that came out in the end. Iam banking a LOT on guys staying/getting healthy and if that doesn'thappen I won't be near the podium. But if it does, I'm happy with thefoundational pieces and with the #1 waiver, my enjoyment of tradingand using the wire... I think I can at minimum be a pain in the assto everyone this year.
And let's be real – the quality ofGMs in this league is second-to-none... so just exiting the draftwith a notion that you can compete is a win in my books.
Here's to a great season lads!

Always like to revisit my early season draft thoughts to learn where my blind spots were for the year.
Finished 7/12 but bounced around from 5-9 the final month so in the end... just a mediocre showing that never really had a chance at winning.
As happy as I was with how the draft unfolded, I missed on critical early picks (J.Rob @ 12, I.Samsonov in the 4th) that are just too difficult to make up in-season. Add in some gambles that went WAY south (Laine, Huberdeau, Jeannot) and I was pretty much the character who runs up the stairs to get away from the killer... dead before the movie was half way done.
The other weird thing that happened was Yahoo/NHL amending hits mid-way through the year. I was in the top 2 for hits pre-adjustment and then found myself basically at the bottom of that cat when they adjusted. With Jeannot out and scrambling to find scoring (terrible SOG and have never had such a poor S% for a team) I then had to try and reverse course and also chase hits.
With Sammy tanking/being waived and losing LA handcuff + A.Hill for a while... I also had to use tons of space on guys like L.Dostal, D.Tarasov to hit my G max GPs. That's part of the deal with goalies... but with my skaters also needing help... I felt pretty limited on what I could do too.
There were some positives too and overall I liked my in-season management (to the extent I could tweak) - but WAY too many draft misses to seriously compete this year.
Still tried to be a PITA down the stretch for the challengers which is why I love this league - nobody quits on the season regardless of position in the standings.
HUGE stick taps for Duntroon coming in and pulling a Panarin on us in year one.
And standing O to Shoeless for what he's done IRL creating an impact that goes way beyond fantasy hockey.
A pleasure as always to be beaten by the best lads. Enjoy your summers!
