If the Sens don\'t sign the hometown defenseman, they should have their heads examined. It\'s a no-lose situation. They would only be on the hook for $412,500 (pro-rated for the remaining games in the season). That\'s about $5,000 a game!

Murphy can help fill the puck moving D-man and PP point man roles. He scored 50 points in 45 games in Finland. At least I think they should give it a go.

Couldn\'t agree more. I\'ll be watching this very closely.

If he does sign, is he worth Ian White?

Corey Murphy running the Power Play in Ottawa, ...Boy that\'s an interesting possibility.

He started so well in Florida last year before he hurt his shoulder, ...I don\'t know if he wasn\'t fully healed or what, but he never looked the same after he came back.

Definitely worth a look for the Sens though!

    ...or the Lightning

    ...or the Sabres

    ...or the Islanders

    etc...

If he can stay healthy and find the right situation (Ottawa would be perfect) then he can be a top 20 fantasy guy in terms of points for a dman top 20 let\'s hope he gets the chance

Sorry - don\'t want to hi-jack the thread, but I will take a flyer on Murphy if he comes back. Should I dump Schneider or White? Any news on Schneider being dealt?

    C\'mon Murray, do it!

I would keep Schneider over Murphy for sure and probably even White. I\'d have to wait and see how Murphy fits in IF he\'s picked up by anyone. You would be better off if you waited a little on this one, you could get stuck with Murphy on Florida.

    Forget Ottawa, gents.

I just read on RDS.ca that he got picked up by Tampa Bay.

If so, unbelievable, because that means Ottawa passed on him. Tampa is actually ahead of Ottawa in the standings...;-)

Tampa actually has higher waiver priority because its based on points/game.

    Ottawa - 37 points in 43 games = 0.8605 points per game
    Tampa - 38 points in 45 games = 0.8444 points per game

We probably won\'t know if Ottawa placed a waiver claim because stuff like that is rarely ever divulged.

OK thanks Narduch, Murray is still an idiot, but we will need to wait a bit longer for the next bit of evidence.. ;-)

    When do they play next?

    LOL.

    The Sens play tomorrow.

Tampa plays tonight. I wonder if Murphy makes it into the game.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. I\'m actually surprised Tampa has taken on more salary, even at half the price.
