This one has been debated a few times over the years. Short answer, I want Draisaitl, especially in your setup where FOWs from the wing are money. I assume Draisaitl has W eligibility and Matthews is C only.
Plain and simple... - Would you guys trade Matthews for Draisaitl?

I think you keep Matthews.
Yes Drai is a special player.
To Axe's post, you're already getting FOW from the wings in Rantanen and Pavelski.
I left my previous fantasy hockey league. So just some guy who likes and plays hockey.
Draisaitl.
You have a strong center core in MacKinnon, Hughes, Barkov, Zegras, and Carlsson on the way with little on your LW.
I would 100% move Matthews for Drai without any hesitation.

Yes I would trade Mathews for Draisaitl
For last 3-4 years, I've advocated for Matthews (age 26) over Draisaitl (age 28) in new dynasty drafts.
And year-after-year, that's been wrong. Draisaitl just puts up more stats than Matthews.
This said - the thing that doesn't change is the two years difference.
At some point, does Draisaitl start declining in advance of Matthews?
IDK. We'll see.
Players do get hard to trade in keen-GM dynasty leagues when they turn 30... which is just 2 years away for Draisaitl.
But... the numbers don't lie... Draisaitl does it better.
So I'd simply be continuing to be stubborn with 5+ years of PRO-Draisaitl data.
Sometimes ya gotta admit when you've been wrong.
Draisaitl, for me. Fugg the two year difference.

I'd lean Draisiatl here.
You have good center depth, but adding flexibility is a good thing, and you do have FOW, which makes Draisiatl a good add. He is the #1C on his team for faceoffs.
I might see if Hughes excites the other guy, though. He's a 35% FO guy who may need to move to wing.

I disagree with most of the guys here. To me the 2 year age difference is a big factor. Draisaitl is not that much better in fantasy to lose 2 years of ELITE production. Matthews can outscore him any given year, just because he did not in the past doesnīt mean he wonīt in the future. Right now he has almost twice as many goals as Drai and more points in 1 game less played. This year could be the year Pengwin
To me, the goal scoring also outweighs the FOW here.
I would not trade Matthews for Drai straight up

Over the last 5yrs
Draisaitl (316gp):
194G (50G/82GP)
272A (70A/82GP)
466pts (120pts/82GP)
195PPP (50PPP/82GP)
+39 (+10/82GP)
134PIM (35PIM/82GP)
996SOG (358sog/82GP)

2,751FL (714FL/82GP)
195Hits (50hits/82GP)
305TK (79TK/82GP)
104Blocks (27blocks/82GP)
Matthews (297GP):
213G (59G/82GP)
161A (44A/82GP)
374pts (103pts/82GP)
106PPP (29PPP/82GP)

275Hits (76hits/82GP)
316TK (87/82GP)
298Blocks (82block/82GP)
So there's 12 categories that are controllable (I don't count SHP and GWG in these ones, it's too random). Above are the totals over the last 5yrs, and then the 82game average for each. Green is the winner, Red is the loser, black is the tie.
The breakdown is 5-5-2. Matthews wins peripheral and goals, Draisaitl wins points, PIMs and FW. The downgrade in goals from Draisaitl to Matthews is roughly 10G, which is about 0.5G/Fantasy week.
I personally rather get the categories that are harder to find (offensive) and fill the easier categories (Peripheral) via depth/Waiver Wire players.

You gave Draisaitl an additional 100 SOG - itīs supposed to say 258 SOG - so Matthews wins that cat easily resulting in a breakdown of 6-5-1 in favor of Matthews - and there is still the age difference.
Re- Axe: you cannot insert any name in there, donīt be foolish. We can all agree that Matthews and Draisaitl are at least pretty close... Not a lot of players come close to any of those two, so i donīt get your point here

My point is simple. Matthews has not been the better fantasy asset "but he might be some day", is your reasoning for recommending Matthews. I could say that about a lot of players when comparing them in this fantasy format. JT Miller for example, looking back the past couple years (and this one so far) has been a better fantasy asset in this format than Matthews. Marchand is right there too, along with Matthew Tkachuk (Brady is getting there). And yes, Draisaitl. So could he be the better asset at some point, sure, but so could others.

With what this GM already has in FOW's, may not be a category that's worth adding more too if they are sufficiently winning it more often than not.
Goals are far harder to earn then FOW.
Personally I like the situation better for Matthews going forward then Drai.
Other hand having Drai is nothing to sneeze at, but my view is he has Matthews, hold Matthews as not sure Drai is the ticket this season to increasing said GM's chances of winning their league.
