I mean this is pretty typical for him throughout his career. He does just enough to hold down a spot for a little while but never enough for teams to want to put up with his bs. Last I heard he was scratched for non-injury related issues.
What's the deal with Tony?
He hasn't played in five games. I don't think he is hurt, is he a healthy scratch?
DeAngelo is not putting up any points and seems buried in the depth chart.
any intel?

I'll see if I can find the thread from earlier / off-season.
I speculated (with great debate from others) that TonyD simply wasn't going to fit with Carolina.
CAR has a top 4D and two pairings they absolutely love:
Slavin(L)-Burns(R)
Skjei(L)-Pesce(R)
And in the offseason they splurged on Orlov(L).
The options on D are DeAngelo(R) and Chatfield(R).
And some said DeAngelo is gonna fit and score points...
And I said... it's gonna be Chatfield...
And CAR gave Orlov-DeAngelo a chance... and it didn't work.
I don't think it works for Orlov and he's not the weaker link.
So CAR gave Orlov-Chatfield a chance... and it's been working well.
And Carolina has been winning.
And people can shit on +/- all they want...
But when you are comparing two guys playing same position with same partner (Orlov) on same team, behind same forwards and in front of same goalies...
Well, the proof is there.
+3 Chatfield
-4 Orlov (whose +/- is influenced from partner)
-10 DeAngelo

(Some times... you have to watch to know what's going on. And sometimes, see link above, the numbers make it REALLY obvious....)
It seems that DeAngelo is somewhat of a head case and should keep his mouth closed more and just play the game he is paid for. He has been down this road before. The really sad thing about all of this is he is a pretty good talent.
He hasn’t been scratched because of his mouth or any of this garbage. If he were playing well enough he’d be in. He’s not playing the game well enough at both ends of the ice. This is something that Brid’Amour preaches. So he sits.

He's abominable defensively, and doesn't care much about that end of the ice. He ended up on Carolina because Torts wanted him G-O-N-E. Carolina now has more offensive minded options that don't suck on the defensive end, so he's not playing as much.
Dude should've be named O'Angelo.

good intel lads. I have him in a 12-team dynasty league. I don't think he has any trade value. This would be the lowest.
With Guys like Adam Larson & Ryan Pulock out scoring him in my league set up I may make the switch
The only thing that is stopping me is Dobbers high ranking of DeAnelo. At 28 on the Keeper rankings, I find that surprising.

^ some of these rankings a real head-scratchers
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
